Why do we make fiction
Well, so far my best guess at why I am so driven (and am so enjoying it) to write fiction is that I have a common human desire to have a story worth telling but can't tell one aloud because I kill them every time. I have a grand imagination, a love of a good tale, and have always been captivated by a well-formed plot. I can't get enough of them... so I'm learning to write my own.
Take all that, and merge it with my soul-crushing failure to make any satisfactory progress at shaping my current reality, thus leading to day after day of spiraling chaos, and you'll get why I, at least, make fiction.
That, and I have an education and a good brain and need to use them, and I think the world needs more stories that don't include graphic sex and raunchy expletives. I'm afraid I can't quite steer clear of violence, however. There's got to be some action. ![]()
