Five Nights At Freddy's.

A security guard, tasked with caring for his underaged sister, gets a job at a haunted Chuck-E-Cheese ripoff that's been deserted for years.
Fun B horror movie.

Last night we watched two films...oh, Halloween is prominent in both of them...

First, having seen Alien vs. Predator [2004] and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem [2007], we moved on to the remaining movie in the franchise:

The Predator [2018]
<=>"The Hunt has Evolved"

It turns out the Predators had a purpose in their hunting: finding sources of additional, useful DNA to incorporate into their own.

I'll let others here comment on how accurately the kid presents as being an Aspie but I'll mention I'm pleased the Predators considered him to be a valuable treasure.

Then, for a change of pace, we watched:

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse [2015]
<=>"Always Bring Protection"

Both films are Predator/Alien R E C O M M E N D E DPredator/Alien

Slumber.

A doctor specializing in sleep disorders discovers how a family she is helping is not just experiencing sleepwalking and sleep paralysis, but that some demonic entity is actually attacking them as they sleep.
Great horror flick!

The Void.

A sheriff rushes a frightened, injured man to a small rural hospital, where he finds himself in the center of Lovecraftian cosmic horror.

The Astral Factor (1978)

Dire 'B' movie about an escaped convict who has discovered a way to become invisible, as one does, and goes on a killing spree. Only provides a sliver of interest value because of the participation of a few high profile stars, namely Stefanie Powers, Elke Sommer and Sue Lyon, but even they are wasted on this.

Having recently watched The Predator [2018] we continued working our way through the Predator/Alien franchise:

Prometheus [2012]
<=>"Everything has a Beginning"

Alien: Covenant [2017]
<=>"Scream"

I'd seen both movies before and my impression had been that Prometheus was a wonderful start but Alien: Covenant failed to move the story forward. I was wrong. This time we watched the two films in reasonably fast succession (just a few days apart) and this lead to me picking up some nuances in Alien: Covenant I had previously missed. It helped a lot.

Both films are: Predator/Alien R E C O M M E N D E DPredator/Alien

Further recommended:
- After watching Prometheus don't delay watching Alien: Covenant
- Watch them in high def! Both films are visually stunning!

P.S. The earlier films introduced us to the "Predators" and the "Aliens". These films introduce us to the "Engineers" but leave a huge hole in that part of the story. I hope there are future films to plug that hole!

Bird With The Crystal Plumage (1970)

Directoral debut by Dario Argento. What to make of this? It's one of those Italian 'Giallo' (murder mystery) films, and as such it's inevitably got a convoluted plot full of red herrings. Nonetheless, it's far from impossible to follow, but I still reckon it's only averagely good.

The issue is that Argento is one of those directors that it seems to be 'cool' to like. That means that films like this tend to get rave reviews which are often out of proportion to their merits. Groupthink eh, dontcha just love it? On IMDB for example, one reviewer implies that this is an exceptionally good film, apart from the fact that it has an indifferent plot and lousy dialogue! And he or she almost certainly wasn't being ironic....
