We just finished The Breakfast Club, to settle a debate about whether Claire and Bender hook up in the closet.

The King In Yellow.

Updated vision of Robert W. Chambers' short stories revolving around an insanity inducing play involving a sinister supernatural being known as Hastur, the King in Yellow. Unfortunately, it was made with a shoestring budget, amateurish acting, and uneven writing. Still, anyone who's read the Chambers anthology might just overlook the shortcomings.

I'm talking about the interiors. Pale, colorless walls with nothing hanging on them, etc. Not cluttered, actually sort of empty.

I do so miss that from my pre-marriage days.

Oh, lest there be any doubt, I did not have a machine gun on a mount in my living room.

But I do currently have a few a-salt rifles in our home. They are handy! And I recommend getting them equipped with Bug-Beams.

The Bug-Beam is a little gizmothat's a technical term that is easily installed at a bug-a-salt gun's muzzle. It has a button. When you press the button it shines a laser beam to where the gun is aimed. You adjust where you are pointing the gun until the laser's spot is on (or very near) the bug you want to shoot. After you shoot you hit the button on the Bug-Beam again so as not to run its battery down.

But it would be important to get a Bug-Beam designed for whatever model bug-a-salt gun you have. It has to fit over the muzzle and stay in place.

I think the Bug-A-Salt guns are kind of fun and if you hit a bug with it, the bug will have a bad day.

With the Bug Beam I find it easier to hit the bug.

Note: House Centipedes are tough! We have earlier model Bug-A-Salt guns and it takes multiple shots to take a centipede out. Other bug critters are not so tough...and with something like a mosquito you might not find the "corpse".

The Beekeeper. I just love Jason Statham and his ability to kick the arse of the bad guys.

The Mummy's Hand (1940) on Pluto TV (Universal Monsters channel)

The only thing I want to mention is I took one look at the High Priest and I thought old Chris Kattan? I know, Eduardo Ciannelli probably doesn't look any Chris Kattan to anyone else. I just seeing Chris Kattan as "Jed Mosley" in The Wedding Bride on How I Met Your Mother.

The Mummy's Tomb (1942) on Pluto TV (Universal Monsters channel)

I always enjoyed Universal Studio's Mummy films. Even when I was nine years old I thought haven't I seen this in the other mummy movie? But I still enjoyed the mummy. I didn't see The Mummy's Hand until I was an older adult (mid 30s?).

I won't post it after I finished watching, but I'm watching the 1962 Hammer film Night Creatures. I'm only mention it because there is a scene that I've only seen on the hardcover (not the dust jacket), and the title page of the book The Movie Treasure Horror Movies: Tales of Terror in the Cinema by Alan G. Frank.

Acolytes.

Australian horror film in which three teens attempt to blackmail a serial killer into killing the neighborhood bully and rapist who had been tormenting them. They never care to think this will only put two psychopaths on their trail.
Very good film. Not something to watch if you're looking for a feel good movie.

Last night I watched:

Slipstream [1989]
<=>"From the depths of the earth. To the edge of existence... The hunt is on!"

I'm sort of systematically going through some parts of our library and there was another box set with Slipstream, so I watched it again.

It is still a reasonably good film. Not great, but definitely OK.

The Hate U Give, based on the novel by Angie Thomas.

little big man. one for the ages, that one. the director arthur penn and screenwriter calder willingham did an ace job cramming the high points of the novel into a blockbuster of a film. not for the kiddies though, despite the PG rating. the graphic violence was clearly equal to something R-rated.

One of my favorite movies since I saw it as a kid at the drive-in, and later on video.

i wasn't aware of the violence when i was a kid and it was shown in bowdlerized form on NBC-TV, so the violence caught me by surprise when i watched it uncut for the first time.
