The original Train to Busan is great if you haven't seen it. This sequel is about a new set of characters. It has well made moments but the emotional core isn't as strong as the original.

I own the original on DVD.

The original is quite good. The second is surprisingly different but some like it more than I did. Supposedly the third will be set in a more confined space like the original, rather than the town setting of Peninsula.

I think all three (so far) movies in the zombie trilogy are reasonably entertaining:
\o/(1) Seoul Station [2016]
\o/(2) Train to Busan [2016]
\o/(3) Peninsula [2020]

I think (3) is the weakest of them and (2) the strongest. And (1) is animated, if anyone cares.

And the prospects for another film seem possible but not certain. I'd be interested if they show up.

I think the interest is high, so more films are very likely. But a lot of franchises get stuck in development hell despite that.

The premise is clever and it has great acting from Steven and Samara. The villains are intentionally over the top but not too over the top, just the right amount. It felt a little like a comic or video game in a good way. This could have been a franchise had they wanted it to be, and I sort of wish it had been.

Last night we watched:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters [2019]
<=>"One King To Rule Them All"

\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/G O O D\o/\o/

Though Kong is the king of Skull Island Godzilla is king of the giant monsters. Except Ghidorah has come from outer space and has taken control of the giant monsters and is causing them to rampage across the Earth. Apparently only two giant monsters are not following Ghidorah: King Godzilla and Queen Mothra.

And in this movie we get to see Godzilla and Mothra, with some human assistance, try to reestablish order!

Last night we watched:

Godzilla vs. Kong [2021]
<=>"One will fall."

\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/V E R Y\o/G O O D\o/\o/

Neither wants to share being "alpha".

While the characters in the movie might not've enjoyed it, as audience, we both did!

Last night we watched:

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire [2024]
<=>"Unite."

We both liked it. Disclaimer: It is giant monster movie. That may have affected our expectations.

I think I liked the first two Monsterverse movies better, but this one more than the third and fourth films...but, overall, I am enjoying the franchise. This movie could've been a plausible final movie in the franchise but I am glad to see there might be another film coming.

Oh...I listened to some of the extra material on the video disk and when saying the movie's title they said it like:

Godzilla ex Kong

That is, they just said the name of the letter between the name of the two monsters.

Last night we watched:

Canadian Bacon [1995]
<=>"Help America fight the Canadians"

The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and Putin took charge of Russia in 1999. In the years between Russia was concerned with things like universal indoor plumbing and the U.S. had no strong national enemy to stand up against. We had peace!

So, how could politicians look strong if there was no one to be strong against?!

Perhaps you could manufacture U.S. border security concerns...against Canada!

Fun movie. That makes far too much sense. And it seemed sort of appropriate.

P.S. Hope no WP Canadians hurt themselves rolling their eyes while watching the movie!

Although the beginning of the film evokes many others that deal with homosexual relationships, in reality, it soon becomes a film that reflects the drama of being in love with a person who suffers from schizophrenia.

Being one who has Bipolar Disorder that has haphazardly relapsed twice in the past year and a homoromatic asexual mandeeply felt the heart of the storyline as when the character forgets to take his medication and falls prey to relapsing and not seeking treatment, despite his friends and father attempting in many ways.

A really sad eye-opener.

It was really the first movie that I sat and watched in length since I watched Brokeback Mountain some time ago.

The Haunted Palace.

Second rate retelling of Lovecraft's The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward. Even Vincent Price couldn't save this mess!

No classic but this romantic dramady provides a good escape from whatever you need escaping from.

Madeleine (1949)

A film directed by David Lean about Madeleine Smith, a 21-year-old Glaswegian woman from a wealthy background who stood trial in 1857 for the murder of her lover, one Emile L'Angelier. Seems to stick very closely to the known facts of the case, and very watchable.

Madeleine's father is unintentionally funny as a somewhat caricatured stern Victorian patriarch, and a maidservant called Christina is amusing as well.

Recalled (2021)

I think I've seen this before.

It has a few actors I've seen in other Korean films and series.
Of course (why of course?) there is Seo Ye-ji, who was in It's Okay to Not Be Okay.
Yeom Hye-ran, who has been in so many other projects I've seen. The Uncanny Counter, The Glory, Mystic Pop-up Bar, Lawless Lawer (also with Seo Ye-ji)
Bae Yoo-ram who played a pedophile in Judge vs Judge. He was very memorable in that. He plays a detective in Recalled.
