Hogfather [2006]

Visually rich. Some incredibly good performances.

My bride thought it was wonderful.

Note: She's read Hogfather, the book the movie is based on—I have not.

My late dad had been a big fan of Pratchett's Discworld fiction.

The Draughtsman's Contract https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083851/

I didn't finish it. I found it to be boring. Maybe you have to be English to appreciate it. It got a high score on IMDB, and many glowing reviews.

Last night we watched:

After the Thin Man [1936]
<=>"Mr. and Mrs. Thin Man Are Back In Their New Hit"

Second of the six The Thin Man movies.

All six are good. We watched this one because it occurs on New Year's eve.

Zombie Girl: The Movie (2009)
A documentary about twelve year old Emily Hagins making her first feature length movie, Pathogen. The film was low budget, $7,000, and financed by her parents.

Pathogen (2006)
Emily Hagins' first feature length film.

The movie was an extra on the documentary DVD.

My Sucky Teen Romance (2011)

Emily Hagins third feature length film. IMDB says she was 17-18 when she made this $6,905 budgeted film. She was 19 when it was released. It was really well done. The acting is good, and it is very funny. Really well written. The incidental music was very good. Did I ever think "This film should have won an Oscar!"? No, but compare what she did with her budget compared with some other movie directors of low budget films, with a greater budget, it's a very solid film.

Warning. I have one more Emily Hagins film on disc to watch...

Grow Up, Tony Phillips (2013)

The last of my Emily Hagins disc collection.

This is a movie about a high school senior who still loves the things he loved as a kid, like Halloween and costumes, making him the nerdy outsider the adult seniors/kids make fun of and bully. Except for one young lady that admires that he knows who he is and what he likes. It's a really nice movie.
It was her fifth feature film, and was released directly to DVD.
If features some of the actors from her previous films, particularly My Sucky Teen Romance. The main star, Tony Vespe, had been in all of her films going back to Pathogen.
This was a big budget film, compared to her previous films. $75,000 raised on Kickstarter.

Coin Heist (2017)

Last Emily Higans film I'm watching this year. It is on Netflix.

It is a heist film, involving four high school students trying to save their school when one of their dads is arrested for embezzling from the school. It was okay. To be honest, not my favorite, but it was not torture. It is based on a young adult novel, and that is exactly how it feels. If there were a Hallmark Nickelodeon channel, it would fit right in. It was made for Netflix.

When thinking about the plot and the scenes, there is a sense of Deja Vu. There is a possibility I've seen it before, and forgot about it.

Saw the Deadpool/Wolverine movie recently, and honestly liked it better than most recent MCU movies (not that I've seen all of them).

Saw Deadpool & Wolverine tonight.
Not quite as good as 1 or 2, but still PMSL.
Lots of visual gags in the scenery and Mad Max references.
