It's the stuff software folk dream of.

I won't say it's as good but have you also seen its sequel?

I've seen Tron Legacy, yes. Honestly I prefer the look and feel of the original Tron. Nothing comes close to the primitive computer graphics that were used in that movie. It was definitely an example of creativity breeding on constraints. Tron Legacy also looked cool, but it felt less like a digital world because everything looked like it was made of glass.

Frankenstein (2025)

Guillermo del Toro's film.
Boris Karloff will always be special to me (beautiful Jack Pierce makeup and acting), but this may be my favorite version of the story. Wonderfully told story.

There will be people that don't care for it, but I would recommend it.

I agree. I was working in software development when I saw Tron [1982] in the theater when it came out...it was powerful! ! It was like a  dream!

There are a few movies that reflect how a programmer sees things but I think Tron was the most powerful for me. Perhaps second would be Free Guy [2021], if you haven't seen it then I recommend it.

Mayday (2021)
streamed on Tubi TV.

Written, directed, and produced by Karen Cinorre. It was an interesting film. It was not a great film, but it was interesting.

Pearl (2022)

I'll summarize this film like this -
Pearl lives on a farm and has aspirations to be loved and be famous.
Here is the thing to remember -
What she lacks in talent, she more than makes up with killing whatever seems to get in her way. She like animals, and she keeps the allegator well fed.
It is the prequel to the movie X. X was made first, the same year. Before it was completed, Ti West and Mia Goth got the idea for Pearl. Ti West did, but Mia Goth co-wrote the film.

This isn't a straight forward prequel. In Pearl, her name is Pearl (of course) and it takes place in 1918. In X, it takes place in 1979, and her name is Maxine.

I like end credits. The camera stays fixed on her face as she forces a smile. The smile and her face becomes strained as she holds it for several minutes. She looks a bit deranged at the end.

Okay, 37 minutes into X and I figured it out, and they were quite clever. Mia Goth plays Pearl in Pearl. In X, she plays Maxine, budding porn star, and Pearl, the old woman the lives on the farm with the movie with Maxine is in is being made. So Mia Goth is playing Maxine, and old Pearl.

Great movie. I wish it had emphasized her nymphomania, though, which had been the impetus for her murders as an old woman in X.

I got the impression in Pearl that she was physically lonely. She has her fantasies, the projectionist, and can't forget the scarecrow.
I'm halfway through X.

Lord Of Tears.

British horror movie in which a teacher inherits his family's estate after his mother's death. He reluctantly returns, recalling childhood trauma in which he believed he was being haunted by a horrific half man/half owl. Then he meets a beautiful American woman he is taken with, who he stays at the estate for. But his childhood terrors begin to return, and he realizes the woman is not what she seems.
Pretty good horror flick.

Beat.

Highly recommended movie about the two murders significant to the early Beat literary movement.

Bring Her Back.

After losing their father, a single parent, step siblings go to a social worker turned foster mother. But this angel, who seems fun loving and who understands grief since losing her own daughter, has sinister intentions.
Very good horror film.

The Dead Room.

Two scientists and a psychic surveil a haunted house for an insurance company, and discover it's actually haunted by a ghost trying to chase them away. After banishing the spirit, they discover too late that that was a mistake.
Pretty good New Zealand horror flick.
