IT
and
IT Chapter 2

What a fun romp! Okay, IT is not a romp. It is tense, bloody, and shows insect limbs coming out of places they should not protrude from.
It's alright though. I'm going to sit back and relax with a mini series from 1990. It's called.. what? IT?

This Is Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
Rob Reiner's character gets the band to reunite one more time for a New Orleans concert, despite friction between the two childhood friends in the group. They even get a lesbian drummer who isn't afraid to die!
While it had its moments, it couldn't compare with the original. Still I had to watch it as a salute to the late, great Rob Reiner.

Lord of the Rings: Two Towers
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

I watched Fellowship of the Ring last night, and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies earlier.

As for An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug? I put the wrong movie in first. The lighting was bad. I was committed after that.

Bliss.

An artist, who finds her creativity and life stifled, blows off steam with a hard night of sex and a new drug called Bliss. It seems her friend and the friend's boyfriend, who she had sex with, have turned her into a vampire. As her bloodlust grows, so does her artistic achievement.
Highly recommended vampire movie.

The Ape Man (1943)

'B' Movie, starring Bela Lugosi. You can probably guess the plot just from the title. Every bit as dreadful as one might expect from a late period Lugosi film. Some critics rate it as 'so bad that it's good', but you definitely need to be in the right mood to appreciate it in those terms.

Last night we watched:

Synchronic [2019]
<=>"Time is an illusion"

Perhaps not great but definitely very good. A Science Fiction movie that relies on story-telling, not special effects.

The lives of two paramedics in New Orleans are disrupted when a small number of dangerous pills are sold on the street. The pills cause you to temporarily be displaced in time. Be careful, though...if you mess up you will be permanently displaced.

Caveat.

A patient suffering from amnesia is offered a job to babysit his worker's mentally ill niece in an isolated estate for a few days. Then he discovers the mansion is on an island, and that he must wear a chained harness restricting his movements. Only then does he eventually learn he is accused of killing the woman's father before an accident that had taken away his memory. Trying to escape for his life, he begins to remember...
First rate Irish horror film. Very much recommended.

Avatar: fire and ash. It's brand new so I won't say any plot details but I adored it. Especially the character arcs and world building, world building has always been the main appeal of the Avatar films for me.

Back Country.

A man takes his girlfriend on a camping trip to a site where he had loved in his high school days, planning to pop the question to her. They run into a creepy Irish nature guide, who you'd think was the movie's antagonist, but he's just a red herring. Instead of finding the place he remembered, they end up lost... in the territory of a carnivorous bear.
Very harrowing.

Last night we watched:

The Thin Man [1934]
<=>"See It From the Beginning!"

IMDb explains the movie well:
<=>Former detective Nick Charles and his wealthy wife Nora investigate a murder case,
<=*=*=*=*>mostly for the fun of it.

And it all starts at a Christmas party for the now (mostly) retired detective in his home town with friends and acquaintances from his past...so they quickly end up with some detecting to do.
