The BBC-America cable channel often runs marathons of Second Gen Star Trek. And its a great thing to leave on the tube while you're doing housework. Lotsa good drama. You can tune in and tune out as you please.

I actually grew up with the original Kirk Star Trek. I like them both. But they are so different its hard to compare. First generation is cheesy as hell, but it didn't take itself very seriously. The Second gen takes itself more seriously, but pulls it off well.

The galaxy, as portrayed in the original Star Trek, is basically the USA in the 19th Century: a wild west frontier.

The galaxy, as portrayed in the Second Gen Star Trek, is basically Europe in the 19th Century. Full of competing empires, and lots of Napoleonic era obsession with alliances, diplomacy, and double dealing. Lol!

Which kinda makes sense. Makes sense that the Cosmos would progress that way: move from being like the New World on earth to being like the Old World on earth as time progressed.

I grew up with the TOS movies & Next Generation. I started watching DS9 in my preteens & Voyager when I became a teen. I don't have a fave series. I like different things about the different series. I still never watched Discovery or Picard yet thou. What channel does Picard air on & when does it air :?:

Just watched the latest ST: Picard. I'm liking it. These things have really become serialized movies, not episode-based adventures (the original model from the old days).

He voiced on Gargoyles, Marina Sirtis was a regular too. Brent Spiner and Kate Mulgrew did a few episodes each. Pretty sure I heard LeVar Burton's voice too. A long time ago.

Spock's Vulcan salute should replace handshakes in coronavirus era

In this era fraught with coronavirus worries and new advice coming seemingly every day, I'd like to propose a new replacement for the germ-filled handshake. Let's revive Mr. Spock's Vulcan salute from Star Trek, a simple and sanitary gesture that's just as useful as a handshake greeting, and 10 times more charming.

Remember the Alamo!

On this day, March 6th, 1836, after a thirteen-day siege, 1,800 Mexican troops overran the walls of the Alamo and killed the 187 Texas volunteers defending the fort, including Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William B. Travis.

The bagpipes...five years now. I wonder how many people know the significance of that tribute. :(

Latest Picard starts with a nice scene from Macbeth.
