irritating commercials
There was a commercial a while ago for Bagel Bites, it started out with a woman trying to jam a pizza into a slot-loading toaster, then saying "you can't cook a pizza in a toaster". Then they would show Bagel Bites baking in a toaster oven and say "now you can". The problem is that the solution wasn't so much to buy their product as it was to buy a toaster oven.
Now, that's another category you just nailed between the eyes... A product said to solve a problem that only an idiot would have, where they show someone doing something so totally imbecilic that you want to scream, "Well, maybe if they ruin enough toasters they'll figure out the problem and order a pizza instead!"
Another Time Warner Cable commercial showed a bewildered father watching his son trying to pull the neighbor's computer out of the window of said neighbor's house, CPU, monitor and all, by the power cable. When the man naturally asked the boy what he thought he was doing, he said that the neighbors had high speed internet from TWC (which he apparently was trying to steal, I guess?) and then a woman joins the boy in his tugging and the man says, "Honey, you too?" to which she replies, with something of an impatient, accusatory tone, "Yeah, me too," and then the pair of them yank the entire computer out onto the carport with a crash.
Did that make any sense at all? So they're saying, Hey, foolish dads of the world, pony up the dough for high speed internet or you, too, will have to bail your wife and son out of jail for burglary? And by the way, they're so stupid that they think stealing someone else's computer will provide them with high speed internet? Do they also hide by covering their eyes? Never mind the fact that mom there could have gone out and ordered it herself. Obviously she isn't the brightest bulb in this instance, so yeah, never mind that.
Sorry about the rant. Commercials that seem to be making no effort to make any sense or show anything worthwhile about the product muddle me rather. Even when they're just trying to get your attention with a joke that isn't funny in the least, it can be maddening to me. You can always tell the ones who think they're copying the clever, subtle advertisers... but being neither clever nor subtle just end up making no sense.

The world loves diversity... as long as it's pretty, makes them look smart and doesn't put them out in any way.
There's the road, and the road less traveled, and then there's MY road.
I am getting really tired of the Dell commercial "Lolly-pop...lolly-pop...".
I can not stand the Progressive insurance commercial with that lady giving us all such a great deal. I especially dislike the line she uses in one of them, "Power to the people."
I am extremely sorry that Billy Mays died. But, his voice has always annoyed me in his commercials.
And...can we say, "Sham Wow...that's what I'm talkin' 'bout." Yuck!! ! The Sham Wow guy has a new annoying commercial...it's one of those food choppers. One of his lines in it when he throws some nuts under the chopper is, "You're going to love my nuts." Then he smiles slyly...I know what he was talkin' 'bout.
Oh...how many of you love the Scooter Store? "I never expected them to be so nice," says the one old man after receiving his power chair. And the woman who throws her hand in the air as she does 360s in the kitchen. Have you seen the one with the couple on the edge of the Grand Canyon? I keep imagining a short circuit in the scooter chair that causes them to go plummeting over the canyon wall.
