Boring as hell!

The images were great, yet no plot.

No one talked for about 3/4 for the movie.

It confused me at first, but my dad explained it and it makes more sense. It terrified me more than any other movie due to the lack of music making you feel really in isolation light years away from help and I had nightmares about space for ages. Though I still get scared now, I appreciate that it is a cinematic masterpiece and an epic movie, apart from the start before the apes get interesting. And I can't really watch the LSD trip thing at the end any more due to increased photosensitivity

I've only seen this movie once but that was more than enough. Confusing, long, slow, boring and incoherent. I have seldom been so disappointed by a sci-fi flick.

I got a religious feel from this movie somehow.....this was much , much more than just another movie

Also why is it so bad that it makes you think instead of it having "chewed the food" so audience don't have to ponder....kudos to it for making you think about what's under the surface , there's more in this than what meets the eye.

I watched the film when I was eight. It's definitely in my top 3.

I have a lot of respect for 2001. I think- from a technical standpoint- it's one of the best films I've ever seen. This is due to the atmosphere, the way it slowly tightens its grip on the audience, and the ideas that are presented, even if they're ambiguous. It's definitely not on my top ten list of favourites, because it's not one of those films you can throw on when you need a little entertainment. It's more of an artistic experience that swallows you whole, if you let it. The story's not there, the emotion's not there, the ending's baffling, and that's all deliberate. I don't think I understand it and I don't think I ever will. But I do think it's brilliant.

I actually really enjoy that movie, it was way ahead of it's time. I get a lot of people complaining ''Hurr durr how come in 2001 they get moonbases and can send people to Jupiter?'' Well actually back in the sixties it was plausible to Clarke that science would progress that fast in 40 years or so. The problem was more due to human elements (not wanting to invest in science, etc...). If you didn't know, it's quite hard to predict the future, but at least the movie protray very realistic science unseen in other sci-fi movies during the days.

I really enjoyed the movie.

It was nice and relaxing. Like I could let every little thing that was bothering me behind me and just sit back and enjoy the movie slowly progressing.

Though I enjoy his work "A Clockwork Orange" a lot more.

Boring. I don't like films that make me do the work. Want to sit back and be entertained.

Yet another - BORING

"Boring" for some is "hypnotic" for others. I for one love getting lost in the slower scenes, and revel at the dance of the shuttle and the space wheel, among other things.
