What are some good long anime series?
Naruto (which i haven't seen much of) is so much more multi faceted. That dude with the red hair is so much better an antihero then Vegeta. Naruto has more to overcome than Goku who has always been better than everybody other than the villian, until his shirt gets ripped off. And none of the main enemies are really ever mentioned until they are put into the story. Calling Goku the best fighter in the universe and then to bring in somebody who is better then him is annoying.
Having Goku get exponetially better, while all his friends diddle around, and masturbate to him is such a bad story. I mean, Krillin is only jealous of Goku one or two times ever. If they really wanted to do something cool they should have taken one of the good guys and made him evil.
I mean dragonball z is so black and white. It has its powerful moments, but how many times can you hear Freiza saying i am superior to you before getting bored of that consistency. If you want to watch a show of that caliber. Yu Yu Hakishu (sp?) is so much better.
Naruto sometimes does take it overboard. Whole episodes are dedicated to backstory sometimes, and that can get a little old. But i would rather too much back story than watching a show about somebody who can do no wrong.
Granted, Dragonball z did a lot for anime, And i watched it every day on tunami when i was a kid.
dude, naruto really has no story. its a disgrace to ninjas everywhere. its almost as disgusting as the american one piece. also, if you think dbz is long and boring, naruto is even LONGER and more boring. naruto is an obnoxious punk who is hateable, while goku is a likeable character. i would rather root for goku. the fighting in naruto is stupid. i hate hand signs. the fighting in dbz is destructive and powerful. could naruto destroy a planet? no. could goku? yes. there is way too much filler in naruto especially after sasuke left. when the snake guy fought the old guy and the old guy is trying to steal snake guy's soul, old guy gets stabbed in the chest with a sword, and they TALK for 5 episodes!! !! ! dbz may have filler, bu at least they fight. also vegeta is a MUCH better anti-hero than the red-haired sandman. vegeta is badass, always trying to be the best, not for the recognition, but for his self-satisfaction. also, naruto takes too long to explain backstory. also, if you hate frieza saying "i'm so powerful", then wouldn't you hate naruto saying "i'm gonna be hokage" and "believe it"
bottom line: dbz is MUCH better than naruto. but still, Avatar the last airbender is best
haha ill agree with some of that. like i said i dont watch either show very much. I forgot about naruto shouting those two lines all the time. Yeah that is obnoxious.
Um Goku being able to destroy planets singlehandedly doesnt help the story. It hurts the story. I mean how much more powerful can you get? What does he destroy whole galaxies next? I mean amount of destruction does nothing for a story.
By the end it became difficult to ascertain differences in power because everybody had to hold back lest they destroy the world. I mean their kamihamihas didn't change from the beginning to the end.
I mean. i am willing to go on agree to disagree on most of this, but i think it is just bad taste to have a show escalate in power that quickly.
Gotenks traveled around the world like twelve times in less then a second. In fact didn't he turn back time in that story?
And i guess i didnt know there were that many ninjas out there for such a show to be a disgrace to.
naruto is obnoxious, but he isn't hateable. While Goku is boring. I think on that, we'll have to agree to disagree. because that is mostly preference
There is a lot of filler in each show.
Vegeta was a good antihero for awhile, but then he became sort of cliche.
The good thing about naruto is that there is such a wide landscape of characters that a character such as Vegeta wouldn't have became cliche. You wouldn't have to see him every episode. Wouldn't have to rely on the same characteristics day after day. And i guess, when it comes down to the bottom line, that is why i think naruto is the better show. DBZ had to rely on the same seven characters to carry the show until the end.
And for someone who hates naruto so much, it sure sounds like uve seen quite a few episodes.
i used to watch it a lot. naruto's characters/ plot are annoying. dragon ball z isn't perfect, but it is miles better than naruto
Wait, Deltora Quest is an anime? I remember reading the series when I was young. I didn't quite expect an anime to come out of it...
Yes, I was pleasenly suprised too. The anime series covers the adventures of Deltora Quest 1, in more discription. I highly do recommend this anime series.

Spice and Wolf is pretty cool, the setting is mostly of medievil economics and a only two characters really stay, it is actually really good because of the chemistry between the main characters. Well the Girl is a age old pagan wolf god thing with a tongue as sharp as her wit. An amazing series, and the plot makes you have to think to understand the complex thought out inner workings.
Since people are mentioning other shows, I might take this chance to recomend some of my favourite recent comedies (both of which are great parodies):
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (The Idiot, the test, and the summond beasts). Their school recently set up a system to segrigate the students, they are placed in classes and resources based on their test score (ranging from A to F), our main character is actually pretty amazing, he hits new levels stupidity, so it is no surprise where he ends up. Class rooms can be swapped by winning simulated holographic battles, he joins his fellow class F member in a battle to show that test scores are not everything. Some wonderfully funny moments things are not the way the normally would be, including the identity of the show's hottie, what exactly is the talent of the hero and cooking to die for, nice emotional parts mixed in. Also a really catchy song.
Seitokai no Ichizon. Ever seen an anime where the guy just seems to attract all the girls to him, before you know it, he has a harem, well this show has Ken who joined the student council to get exactly that, and he isn't shy in letting them know that is what he wants. Of course the girls are not normal either, the cool girl is a manipulative sadist, the quite girl is a game addict and fan of a certain genre, her older sister is an abusive tsundre, with a love of action and the prez looks like a 11 year old, yet has the interests of a 5 year old. Also has a secret side to character motivations that makes it a nice emotional piece aswell. To get some of the jokes first, you might have to watch some shows like Death Note, Haruhi Suzumiya and maybe a general awareness of other simular shows.
Oh and Working!! is another good one, about the interesting employees of a family resteraunt, it is funny and has a really catchy tune.

I've been considering that. How does it compare with the original FMA anime series?
It's based off of the manga, and it's far, far better than the original series. This is from a person who loved the original series, I still do, but Brotherhood is just better, the story is better and the animation is better. I suggest you buy it, the first 13 episodes are very similar to the first anime, because the first was also based off of the manga until they ran out of story and had to improvise. After 13 it's all different and extremely good. It's also more violent than the first, more blood and gore (people being chopped in half, etc.)
It really is an amazing anime, if you liked the first you will probably like this too.
If I see it I might take a look, I still remember how the story went so it might be good.

Yes, although I viewed it on an Australian Cartoon Channel (Cartoon Network), so in the United States, it may be difficult to locate.
