So far Daniel Craig has fallen into the same pattern Pierce Brosnan did with each movie getting worse, but nowhere near as drastically and all three of Craig's would be ranked among the better half of Bond of films while the last two Brosnan films, particularly Die Another Day are among the worst. The ending to Skyfall however was excellent and bodes well for the future of the franchise but I think Quantum of Solace was more consistent in quality throughout the entire film.

QOS's ending was so brilliantly done, the way Bond tells M that she was right about Vesper before he drops her necklace in the snow and leaves still gives me chills.

Though QOS was filmed during the Writers Strike, I read an article around when QOS was released on DVD/Blu-Ray that director Marc Forster intentionally half-assed QOS because the studio wouldn't let him exercise creative control. Yes, QOS was cheesy & rushed, but it was a good movie to watch.

I never understood why people thought Jar Jar was annoying but not Chewbocca. As annoying as Jar Jar may have been, he did have the only good line of dialogue in episode 1. All Chebocca ever did was screech.

And at least the Gungans had a cool battle scene, even if the "plot's" attempt to explain that fight made no sense.

X-Men: The Last Stand. A lot of people didn't really like this, but I loved it because the plotline about curing the mutants really resonated with me. Of course, I should give full disclosure that I've never seen the previous installments in full and am not all that familiar with X-Men in general.

I'd have to agree with previous comments about Home Alone 2 as well. And Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls seems to generally not be as well liked as the original, but I actually thought it was funnier.

I put each movie's Rotten Tomatoes rating after the title.

The Crow: City of Angels (1996) - 12%

I actually liked this movie more than the first one. It's at least more interesting visually, and with all due respect to Brandon Lee, Vincent Perez is a better actor.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) - 13%

This movie is no masterpiece, but it's a lot smarter than the braindead original. It's actually about something -- the unreliability of myth and storytelling versus the truth that's captured on camera -- whereas the first movie is about nothing much at all.

Hannibal (2001) - 39%

People expected Silence of the Lambs II, and they predictably revolted. Too bad, because Hannibal is a fine thriller, certainly better than the paint-by-numbers Red Dragon.

Predator 2 (1990) - 25%

It's not quite as good as the original, but it's closer than you'd think based on the chilly reception it got. I really have a hard time understanding how someone could like the first movie but not the second.

Rambo (2008) - 37%

This fourth installment is about as good as the first, and maybe better. So why the lack of enthusiasm?

Also worthy of mention:

Alien Resurrection (1997) - 52%

People talk about this very good movie like it's an embarrassment to the series or something. Perhaps they're mistaking it for Alien 3.

Blade: Trinity (2004) - 26%

Is it the worst film in the trilogy? Yes. Is is significantly worse than the previous two films? No. As with Predator 2, if you enjoyed what came before, I can't imagine you not liking it.

You clearly got those two backwards. Alien 3 is fantastic. Calling Resurrection a very good movie is laughable. Its mildly entertaining at best but I would never call it good.

Just go watch this if you need to be sold on why Alien 3 is awesome.

Basic Instinct 2

Is it horrible? Yes.

Is it fun to watch with pizza, beer and sarcastic friends? Yes.

Never underestimate the power of unintentional comedic value.

4. Night of the Living Dead (not exactly a sequel but I'm talking about the remake of the original)

5. Kill Bill vol. 2

Those are the 5 I would say are highly underrated.

Addams Family Values - 78% on Rotten Tomatoes

Of course, 78% is still too low. Every movie starring Raul Julia deserves 100%.

Yes, even Street Fighter.

Especially Street Fighter.

Dredd - Better in every department than the Stallone pile of rubbish. No annoying comedy, Karl Urban snarling, Olivia Thirlby kicking arse and grimy and grungy ultra violence.

^ Dredd isn't a sequel, and considering the good reviews it got, I wouldn't call it underrated either.

After watching A Good Day to Die Hard, I can now add this movie to the topic.

15% on Rotten Tomatoes. Absurd. It's very good, better than Die Hard 2 and Live Free or Die Hard.
