I was going to order the Captain America: Winter Soldier comic storyline so I could know what's up, but I figured I'd be missing out on something big if I just started there.

^^^ If you started with Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America you'd get all the backstory you need.

Comixology would probably be the most economic legit source.

Now I really have to see the movie. I like his WW2 outfit better on him anyway, for what it's worth.
