I used to watch it, but I think that it's gone downhill since it was un-cancelled.

I can totally understand why people are saying they personally find Family Guy offensive (which is arguably justified in some cases; e.g. the singing aborted foetus, and that very strange episode Peter was trying to strongly advocate the legislation of marijuana on purely recreational grounds, but that's a hot potato of a topic on its own.) So I wonder what the reaction is going to be when MacFarlane starts poking fun at the slightly uncomfortable Mexico-US relations with his recently greenlit new series, Bordertown.... http://www.cinemablend.com/television/S ... 60432.html

^Speaking as someone who's stuck around with Family Guy (boo, hiss!), there are two things I ask of this: a different animation style and less voice acting by MacFarlane himself. The guy has some range, but it's gotten tedious to hear characters like Brian, Mr. Pewterschmidt, the doctor, Stan Smith sounding basically the same- namely, like Seth's own speaking voice.

During the show's original run, and the period in between its cancellation and revival, I loved it. Thought it was the funniest thing on TV. However, when the show came back, it just didn't seem the same. There were still some funny gags, and a few solidly enjoyable episodes here and there (like "PTV"), but overall it was less funny, more crude and self-indulgent, and the characters just weren't as likable as they used to be. Plus the show's formula just became tiresome after a while. I stopped watching regularly after about season 5, and on the occasions where I catch it, I might be mildly entertained for a while but ultimately find it to be empty. And although I still find the classic season 1-3 episodes to be more funny and charming than the later ones, I've realized that even they don't approach the creativity of The Simpsons and South Park at their best, or some of the really good sitcoms I've gotten into since then like Arrested Development and Community.

I have never been into Family Guy. To be honest I have never actually watched a full episode, but I have seen bits of it and it's not something I would want to get into. Besides, I find it confusing to see a dog and a baby talk like everybody else. I know it's only a cartoon but it's nice to have a little reality thrown into it too. I suppose the Simpsons is the opposite - their baby doesn't talk at all and hardly takes up any attention, and in real life babies of Maggie's age do take up a lot of attention.

I've been a South Park fan ever since I was 8 and a Simpsons fan ever since I was 10 so I think I will just continue on that.
