^I feel like cancel culture will be the death of this reboot. If they release the same kind of episodes they did back in the day they'll be accused of bigotry if they show hank as more accepting in his older age, they'll accuse the show of being "woke".
It sucks that everything is political nowadays. I just tend to ignore it and just enjoy the programing.

I totally get how being political can ruin a show, futurama reboot does not sit well with me and it's also on hulu.

Strewth, I saw all those old KOTH episodes and never once thought of them as political bigotry. I just found them funny. Apart from Bobby I didn't think any of the characters lent themselves to audience sympathy, not overall anyway. To me they were mostly jerks, but kind of likeable jerks at times.

These days somebody might well call for the new show to be cancelled, but they can go to hell. I don't think they'll actually cancel it after all the work they've put into whetting the public's appetite, unless it doesn't get watched enough to make enough money.

Looking further into it, Jonathon Joss (redcorns voice actor) was allegedly targeted in a hate crime as he was lgbtq+

Well, I got enough of it to see what his partner thinks was the motive before a paywall (or a login/create account wall, which may amount to the same thing) came down. I noticed that unblocking the page's scripts gave me less access than blocking them did, so here's what I got, for the benefit of people who don't use a script blocker:

It was not clear what led to a dispute in which a
neighbor fatally shot Mr. Joss.

By Neil Vigdor
June 2, 2025Updated 6:40 p.m. ET

Jonathan Joss, the actor best known for his voice work on the animated
television show “King of the Hill,” was shot and killed by a neighbor on
Sunday night during a dispute in San Antonio, the authorities said.

Mr. Joss, who was 59, voiced John Redcorn on “King of the Hill” and also
appeared in “Parks and Recreation,” “Ray Donovan” and “Tulsa King.”

The neighbor, who was identified by investigators as Sigfredo Ceja
Alvarez, 56, was taken into custody shortly after the altercation and
charged with murder, the San Antonio Police Department said on Monday.

The police did not say what had led to the dispute, which happened
around 7 p.m. on the south side of San Antonio. But in a post on Mr.
Joss’s Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.joss. ... X3rtn6R2Pl
on Monday, his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, described the shooting as a hate
crime and said that the two of them had been repeatedly harassed because
they were gay. He wrote that they had returned to a property where Mr.
Joss’s home had burned down earlier this year when the shooting occurred.

“He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us,” he wrote in a
statement. “He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.”

Mr. Kern de Gonzales said that he and Mr. Joss had reported the
harassment several times in the past to the authorities, but that it had
continued.

Very infuriating the cops didn't do anything about the violent neighbor. That shows how broken our system is.

Rant aside, does anyone guess that Hank Hill could possibly be remotely working for the Saudi Arabian company? I don't imagine him living there unless if there's a special plot where the Hills temporarily live there and they realize it isn't their cup of tea.

Edit: Nevermind, I found out where the Saudi Arabia description source came from.

^^ Saudi Arabia would make one heck of an episode.
Personally I think they moved so bobby could go to culinary school. It makes sense with the ending of the original run.

It did say in that one article that Hank and Peggy moved their to build their nest egg. But also saving up for Bobby's tuition would be another good reason.

For sure that would be a fun episode! My mind is picturing Bill and Dale sneaking inside a suitcase to come along on the trip. Or it'll be like in Tommy Boy where the guys pretend to be flight attendants. But I think my story is far into fanfiction territory lol.

^that does sound like something they'd do, and i'd love to see that. though i feel like 20mins is too short for such episode, maybe in a king of the hill: the movie.

Maybe king of the hill can attract new viewers this time round instead of just the old fans like me. They are partnering with fortnite for a promotion and that game is popular with the kids.

A new trailer just dropped days ago. Check it out! While I am not too fond of the animation, the dialogue does seem promising here. I think having a good story can make up for meh visuals.

Well at least Bobby's voice hasn't broken yet.

At first I was surprised Bobby's voice wasn't pitched down. But after watching that trailer so many times it did grow on me. I am glad Pamela Adlon was reprised for the role. I imagine people will be upset if she got replaced by a different actor or actress.

Once again I personally think Bobby's voice should've been pitched down to sound older but there are grown guys out there that have high pitched voices so it's definitely not too out of the blue.
