I might get the book as a Christmas present for my sister,
she's a big fan of vampire stories, except Twilight of course.

Looper, it was surprisingly good.

"The Adventures of Prince Achmed" by Lotte Reiniger. The first feature length animated film. Holy cow. Why didn't I know about this woman's films until now? This is a beautifully realized film adapted from some stories from "The Arabian Nights". Definitely worth watching for anyone who likes animation.

"Blood Simple" by the Coen Brothers. Really good film. It holds up quite well against their more recent films. Better than I remember it.

One of the best comedies ever made.

Perfect Sense (2011)
Quote from IMDB: A chef and a scientist fall in love as an epidemic begins to rob people of their sensory perceptions.

This was on TV a few days ago. It was set in Glasgow, so I had to watch it, to do the usual, 'I know exactly where that is' 8) . The strangest part for me was that they were using a back court area of some shops and offices, in the city centre; an area I recognised very well. But, it had been done up to look like there were some second hand bookshops, restaurants and houses there. I've got an idea for that dingy wee spot.

Alex Cross

I don't know what to make of this movie, the guy that played the psycho professional killer was good. But the rest... there was something missing. Maybe if it was Denzel Washington playing Alex Cross, I could have liked it more.

I've been wanting to see that movie. I'm a little hesitant though, because I am not exactly a fan of Seth Grahame-Smith's work. I tried reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies but felt that it somehow missed the mark; and in my opinion, his screenplay for Dark Shadows is probably what caused the movie to fail (John August usually writes the screenplays for Tim Burton's movies but for some reason opted out of this one).

To be sure, it's not a great movie, but it is a fun, kick 'em in the head movie.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles

A vampire tells his life story. I liked it better than I thought I would.

I went to see Red Dawn Wednesday evening.
It was decent but nothing to rave over and I'll probably get the DVD when it comes out.

I've read the new Red Dawn took place in my own Spokane, Washington, but in fact was filmed in - I think - Detroit.

Okay, all around Michigan, then.
A lot of people around my neck of the woods think it's pretty laughable that the movie Spokane isn't the real thing. At least Mozart And The Whale took place in Spokane, and was actually filmed here.

I've seen that one, too. I think I have the DVD somewhere in my stash.
