Would you trust Oprah to do a show on Asperger's?

I think I wouldn't mind seeing Oprah doing a show on AS. They would have to show different types of people with it though because of the wide varieties on the spectrum. Maybe also discuss the opinion on "cures" as well.

NO! WAAAAY to biased. She's oversimplified enough topics already. I like her sometimes - others I want to tear her eyes out. Okay I usually want to tear her eyes out. I generally think she should stick to lighter topics, though I still think she opens some minds to possibilities in a positive light. I think I'd like her to approach 'heavier' subjects when she learns to speak on them with less personality (ego), and more neutrality.

No. Just...no. I'm sorry, but I don't trust NT's to do a show on Asperger's Syndrom or any other Autism Spectrum Disorder. That goes for Okra, Dr. Fill, Babwa Wawas, etc. (Yes, I intentionally misspelled those names.) If there's gonna be a show/special/program about Aspies and other ASDs, it needs to be done by people with ASDs.

No. Anyone one of those shows would pander towards the "My Child Ruined my Life" crowd of parents rather than people with ASDs themselves. I agree that if there were to be a proper explanation, the entire thing would have to be conducted by people with ASDs or, at the very least, by people who believe that children (and the adults they grow into) with ASDs are not a curse.

I would like to see somebody really challenge the curebies on one of those shows. (Get a good debate going -- but not quite Jerry Springer )
