I think the parallels come more with the visuals and atmosphere then stricly following a similar plot.

Things like delving in the catacombs of a weird ancient civilization of "Old Ones" and extremely otherwordly architecture. It might be that Guillermo only thinks he can't top H.R. Giger.

You're probably correct on the 'atmosphere' being too similar. It would however be enormously entertaining if Guillermo hired Giger to create the sets and creatures.

Can't remember if I posted in this thread before but the film was ambiguous, and the plot and CGI (when they said there would be very little CGI) ruined it for me. The film also lost a lot of its rawness through the certification.

Ending was crap, and the main actress' attempt at an English accent was terrible.

That's because it was meant to be a Scottish accent.

She wasn't Scottish; they were only in Scotland excavating a cave...and even if she was Scottish, that accent didn't sound like one.

Not bad. Visuals were great, though. I was hoping there would be more of the Xenomorphs.

Well, Kyle, I think Ridley gave us just enough subtle references that lets you know this story is headed toward the first "Alien", what with the different parasite organisms that try to kill or create new life: the liquid; the octopus looking parasite that was inside of Dr. Shaw; and finally, the Deacon alien that came out of that one jockey.

Yes, indeed. I wonder what will be next?

And I'm amazed she had the machine perform that surgery on herself. While awake! Yikes! 8O
