Also, there is a channel "Funimation" that broadcasts/cable casts/ internet casts in several places. Check to see if it's in your area.

Has anyone recommended Love Hina? It's really good. Also a great manga.

Sgt. Frog is a must for anyone who likes strange outcomes :D

Agreed. Sgt. Frog is currently my favorite anime/manga. It was supposed to come out in English in America last February, but for some reason it got pushed back to later this year. So until then YouTube.com is the only place that I know of that has English subtitled episodes of Sgt. Frog that you can watch. I also highly recommend it.

I also think that Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo (or Bobobo for short) and both Yu-Gi-Oh! series' are good.

Bobobo is filled with very nonsensical humor but it only lasted 2 seasons (probably because a lot of people couldn't handle that kind of humor).

I'm not sure how I can briefly describe Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX without giving you the wrong idea. I think they're good but I've noticed that a lot of people on the internet have critical opinions about the American versions of Yu-Gi-Oh! and (especially) its GX spinoff.

I cant beleive no one has mentioned GTO(Great Teacher Onizuka). Basically its about this 22 year old ex biker that likes young girls. So he decides to get a job as a high school teacher, but when he finds a job instead he's teaching some middle schoolers lol. Its really funny!

One not mentioned yet, but I really like is Planetes. Maybe it's because I always wanted to go into space  .... but i thought it was really funny and has endearing characters.

Fooly Cooly/FLCL (I'd actually find the English dub of this first, despite my preferral for the original Japanese version because the dub is very good. most fans of the original thought that because of all the Japanese pop culture reference and Japanese language puns that the show would never get dubbed, but Synchpoint did such a great job. Anyway it's only six episodes but they require repeat watching because it's is extremely odd.)
