El Infierno
Polisse
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Girl who Played with Fire
The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Cutie and the Boxer
Ocean Heaven

I don't understand why so many people claim that there are not any good movies on Netflix streaming. I found all of these on there.

Philomena.
I enjoyed it. I didn't think I would. I was pleasantly surprised.

Howl

A 2010 experimental film documenting the life of Allen Ginsburg and the 1957 obscenity trial over his most famous Beat poem.

Not bad.

I believe the same film maker made Beat, which recalls the murders of both Dave Kammerer and later, Joan Burroughs. Very good film, except that Keifer Sutherland playing William Burroughs sounds like Keifer Sutherland doing a bad William Burroughs imitation :? .

Not quite right but I can understand why you said that.

Gary Walkow was behind Beat whilst Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedmen were behind Howl; I'm familiar with the latter two having studied Paragraph 175 (a film they both worked on about homosexual persecution in Nazi Germany) during my early college years for media studies.

Paragraph 175 came out in 2000, which was the same time Gary Walkow's Beat was released. By coincidence, Beat covered the same period of time and themes that Epstein and Friedmen would explore a decade later in Howl. Doesn't help Epstein, Fiedmen and Walkow share similar filming writing and shooting techniques.

However, you're 100% right about Keifer Sutherland -- I too, felt too aware that he was acting as William Burroughs. Maybe he's just better off in the action-/intrigue-driven role, as proved by his long-term success on 24 and numerous militaristic/police-themed voice-actor ventures? Not a bad film either though; I did enjoy it seeing it.

The Michael Mann film with Johnny Depp.

Decent, though far too much Hollywood.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Even though Chris Pine proves himself to be a worthy successor to Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck, this "prequelized reboot" of the Jack Ryan film series was predictable and LAME!

Kickass II.

Fun sequel to the original, with Kickass seeking out other would be superheroes to form a league of do gooders, especially now that Hit Girl's guardian has forbidden her to fight crime anymore. But in the meantime, their nemesis, formerly called Red Mist but now calling himself the Mother F*cker (no, I'm not making this up), is forming his own league of super villains.

Jet Li's Fearless

It had great martial arts scenes, and I loved the art direction and set designs, though the plot was somewhat cliched and predictable.

It's the awards season so I've been busy watching the Academy nominated pictures. So far I've seen:

12 Years A Slave
American Hustle
Dallas Buyers Club
Gravity
Captain Phillips

These are actually movies I'd typically not rush to see, but since they've been nominated, the least I can do is give them a looksee.

I have heard mixed things about it. But I am interested enough to check it out.

Miracle

The true story of coach Herb Brooks who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly unbeatable seasoned Soviet team in one the greatest sports upsets of all time!

Sportscaster Al Michaels: "11 seconds, you've got 10 seconds, the countdown going on right now! Morrow, up to Silk. Five seconds left in the game. Do you believe in miracles?! YES!"
