I've never even heard of this movie. Is this a matter of a formerly well known actor making second rate films in his latter years, or is it actually good?
It's somewhat low-budget and I think it went straight to video here, but it certainly isn't second rate. I bought it because I like heist movies and I saw that there was one starring Brendan Fraser and Colm Meaney selling for $5 on eBay, and I couldn't resist. Reading
this review of the Blu-ray, in which the critic gave it a 4 out of 5, didn't hurt my decision.
I wasn't expecting too much, but it was a pleasant surprise. It's not really a heist movie per se; it's a semi-comical farce involving American and Irish gangsters in which everything goes absurdly wrong for everyone involved. It vaguely resembles Guy Ritchie's crime flicks, but
In Bruges may be a better comparison, both in budget and tone.
The title and cover art are misleading; they make it seem like a gritty action drama, but the original title and poster reflect the film more accurately:

It's nothing you need to trip over yourself to see, but I'd certainly recommend it, especially if you like the movies I compared it to. Not as good as
In Bruges, but in the same league at least.
