Starve.

Decent enough horror film about three friends traveling to Freedom, Florida, which had been reduced to a ghost town in the 80's because of sinkholes. They seek urban legends that the town is inhabited by cannibalistic feral children, only to discover a real horror existing there, instead.

The Stepford Wives (1975).

Watchable but a bit of a drag, not very involving. Katharine Ross didn't seem to have the required presence as lead actress (maybe not surprising, as she was apparently third or fourth choice for the role), but I thought Paula Prentiss (of whom I'd never heard) put in a more interesting performance.

I actually found the 'featurette' included on the dvd more interesting than the film. There was apparently a lot of friction between the producer, the director (Brian Forbes) and the scriptwriter, which may go some way to explaining the quality of the end product. Might try to find a copy of the 2004 remake, but the reviews I've seen of that don't look too promising.....

'John Carter' was both surprisingly and disappointingly good. When it came out, it tanked hard and I was left with no choice but to see it because, well, box office bombs are my specialty. I was hoping to see an unmitigated disaster of a film, but instead I got a pretty solid if flawed sci-fi adventure.

'John Carter' is a prime example of how marketing can make or break a film. The trailers and television commercials showcased absolutely none of the its strengths and almost made it look like an entirely different movie. I think most people dismissed the film altogether based on how generic the commercials made it seem. Worst of all, though, had to be the alteration of the title from 'John Carter of Mars' to just 'John Carter'. What the heck was wrong with "of Mars"? Is outer space just not cool to kids anymore? "John Carter" is just such a terrible name for that type of movie.

IMO, I thought visually the John Carter movie was great, but Disney made all the wrong decisions in terms of well, everything in order to make this movie a success. At one point, Paramount and Sony were set to teamup for their own John Carter movie with Robert Rodriguez filming it the same way he did Sin City, entirely against green screen.

56 Up

The participants are finally older than me. A wee bit older.

The Last Temptation of Christ

I saw the last 10 minutes on television once a long time ago. Finally got around to watching the whole thing. I enjoyed it. Couldn't help thinking of Passion of Christ and Shadow of the Vampire.

Why Shadow Of The Vampire?

The Matrix.

I am satisfied with the result. I have finished part of The Matrix Reloaded.
