I watched Yuri On Ice after hearing a lot of hype about it. It didn't really seem like something I'd enjoy but I ended up loving it. It has a fairly predictable story, with a typical underdog story. But it's really polished, with a tight narrative and full of likeable characters. Though it sets up a second season it also works well as a single self contained story.

Yuri on Ice certainly made a big splash last year, earning itself a lot of positive attention for being pretty well made, and in the face of what a lot of people (mostly guys) might think against it. It does have some homosexual themes, but they are really maturely done and the show in general was fun and engaging. There are a lot of positive things I could say about it, one being its smart use of modern technology in the way of social media, the ED especially showing this.

And Love Live Sunshine, we I ended up being a big fan of the first Love Live series, it really managed to make the girl idol genre kind of shine by being fun. Sunshine had a lot to face with coming in with an entirely new cast, and it felt clear that the show was totally aware of what it had to deal with. At current with how the season ended, it does feel somewhat unfinished since a lot of Sunshine was it showing that just resting on what Muse did would be worth so little while we were introduced to the new members of Aqours. I liked it.

I'm watching Kamisama Kiss, Akatsuki Yona, and Ai Yori Aoshi.

Space Patrol Luluco is a favourite of mine too, and was specifically good as a celebration of everything Trigger of which I can also point to other good stuff of Inferno Cop, Kill la Kill, and Little Witch Academia.

I've watched my fair share of anime.

Favorite shows/movies: Neon Genesis Evangelion + End of Evangelion, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, K-On, Monogatari series and Death Note.

Least favorite: DanMachi, Chaos Dragon, and One Piece.

I used to like Elfen Lied a lot but now I consider it to be an average show. Great OP, though.

I have seen people worried after episode 4, but a return with episode 5, I think that maybe has something with Guri's utter nonsense.

Koyabashi will go on my list, then. I laughed a lot while watching I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying.

My sister is waaaay too addicted to RWBY, a anime not through 2D style but 3D. i don't like the art style but she's addicted to it. the characters just look weird to me but probably not for her.

I find it hard to fathom that people would be worried after episode four. One it's a comedy and too the main male/female characters are immortal.

I think that it was because people were feeling that it was starting to take itself too seriously with its plot and drama, when really it is best when it is just nuts. A release when Guri suddenly broke the tension, general opinion is that the drama should not outshine it being funny.

On a note with a different show, Little Witch Academia had another great episode, this time highlighting the perpetually frowning mute mechanic, Constanze. Where the usual main character, Akko, seems to kind of work best when she is maybe the supporting character, and the episode felt like it had the excitement of TTGL.

I adore Free! Iwatobi Swim Club - I watched the first season a couple of years ago, but never felt the need to watch the second because I thought the first season wrapped up very nicely and I think it stands great on its own.

Anyway, I know what you're probably thinking - "Oh. She just likes half-naked bishounen."

Even though it's cliche to say this, I really do "watch it for the plot". I can relate really well to the character of Rin Matsuoka and how he always feels inferior to Haruka no matter how hard he tries, and how Rin's jealousy has driven a wedge between himself and Haruka.

I had a friendship/rivalry with very similar dynamics when I was around their age, so that's why I find the show so easy to relate to. Unfortunately it also makes it difficult to watch at times because of "the feels" it gives me.

@ IdahoRose
But the second season arguably has more plot than the first. It fills in a lot of things that were left unresolved, a main theme being on the need to move forward, especially in the case of Haru, but also Nagisa and Makoto, who each have character arcs that really did not happen in the first season of Free, plus more for Rin who has a healthier attitude. I encourage you to watch the second season.

If you have not watched a lot lately, an anime called Yuri on Ice might be a great thing to check out. It is not about 'yuri', the character is called that, and is a similarly good show with men in sports. Super popular, so you might have heard about it.

Mob Psycho 100 has some great plot about feeling inferior, as well as also kind of on the frame of mind one should have to be healthy with talented in something.

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu is (largely) with men in a performance art known as Rakugo, And like the two above I think it has some male character fanservice, but generally again is a really well made show with the sort of plot similar to the above. Also one of the most highly rated recent shows.

And from the same production studio as Free was the recent Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, which is a case that you might think from the series name is something aimed just at men in a fetish way, but is more than that and was widely popular and perhaps the studio's biggest success in a while.

Yeah, Kobayashi was more for people who are fans of lgbtqa etc relationships on screen.

I am so glad Hinako is developing in a more social person. Again this is what Kuma Miko should have been.
