Elvis & Nixon

I've wanted to see that. How was it?

I've seen the trailer to that, but I'm not sure I wanna go see it. The guy who plays Elvis resembles him so superficially, I fear it would take me out of the movie. Still, the premise sounds interesting.

I liked Kevin Spacey as Nixon.

I really like Kevin Spacey. When he is in a movie it makes me want to see it more.

Just saw Sausage Party with a few mates. Despite the name, there is nothing sexually-suggestive about it, although it is rated MA15+.

That aside, the film was very hilarious. So much so that when I was laughing, I temporarily forgot to breath.

Are you sure. From some reviews that I've seen, some people have said that there's quite a lot of sexual suggestive stuff in it, including a few suggestions of rape in the last third:

Watching Equilibrium. I know most people think it's a s**t movie and I love it even more, because it's the point. The fight scenes could be better, the script is simple, simplified compared to all the tons of similar movies. And, I can feel it here. In the beginning you're the clerk, you only hear his "friend" without understanding much what's not logical. Here you go through the transformation. I know I can feel him coming to life, that moment he scratches that blind paper and sees the world as a whole person. That sight is always breathtaking for me. From grey to colors, cold to warm. But maybe that's because I'm both very visual and feel/perceive things bodily very intensely. And choose for yourself is something that resonates strongly inside of me.

Nice perspective on the movie. I enjoyed Equilibrium plenty when I saw it, though admittedly as more of a sci-fi/action popcorn flick than anything else. I was reminded of it when I saw the trailer to Equals earlier today, which is also set in a future society that implements the restraint of emotions.

Today, I saw Chronic, starring Tim Roth as a home nurse who gets a bit too involved with his patients, all the while trying to compensate for his failure of a personal family life (estranged ex-wife and daughter). I thought it was a great film, very strong performances by the entire cast.

Not the best comic book movie based off of characters from DC Comics and critics were IMO, way too harsh on this movie like you said. Great action sequences and terrific performances by Will Smith {as Deadshot}, Margot Robbie {as Harley Quinn}, Viola Davis {as Amanda Waller}, and Joel Kinnaman {as Rick Flagg}. It would also great that Deadshot and Harley Quinn were depicted as people trying to let go of their checkered pasts by being the most unlikely of friends during the course of the movie.

However IMO, Jared Leto's scenes were nothing more than an extended cameo for him and from what I've read, WB cut most of his scenes because WB felt he would be too distracting from the storyline, which like many I agree with, is BS at its finest!

Overall, a decent comic book movie and I am looking forward to the sequel, which is scheduled to begin production early next year and may be rated R. I give Suicide Squad a B at the most.

As for future movies based off of DC Comics, I'd like to see a movie with The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and/or Mister Freeze done the right way.

Hopefully, we'll get to see Jared Leto's cut scenes in the DVD/Blu Ray release.

I also had a blast watching Suicide Squad, and I'm of a different mind on the Joker's part in it; I thought it was quite a clever bait-and-switch in terms of who the audience thinks will be the central antagonist of the movie, and aside from that, I thought it was neat how they made him instrumental to Harley's backstory and character arc-- as in, usually we see a male main character with a female love interest that serves as a sort of motivational factor, and with Harley and the Joker they turned that around.

I also liked Leto's performance, though I understand why DC fans would be disappointed in his interpretation of the character. I'm more of a Marvel comics reader myself, so I'm not quite so invested in the source material as I am with, say, X-Men.

Batman
the 1989 version. I am a fan of both Michael Keaton and Jack so I really like this film

Just watched Suicide Squad as well...

The Good:

- Harley Quinn - The way I see it, Suicide Squad ought to have been named "Harley Quinn and the Bad Seeds"... she's the reason for watching the movie, even though they made her slightly less batshit than her recent video game appearances. And she likes espresso...

- The Joker - I liked Jared Leto as the Joker... And considering that the two last persons to portray the Joker in live action movies are Jack Nicholson (three time Academy Award winner) and Heath Ledger (Academy Award winner for his role as the Joker), it isn't exactly fair to assume that Leto could deliver just as memorable a performance...

The Bad

- The rest of the Suicide Squad is boring as hell - Captain Boomerang is particularly bland and pointless, but even Will Smith's Deadshot was fairly uninteresting to me... Apparently, he got $ 20 million for his role...
- Not enough Joker - Seriously, this is the most disappointing aspect of the movie... You can't have a guy who dresses up his henchmen in cute panda costumes while they mow down people with assault rifles... and then give him so little screen time
- The plot is really, really bad...

I think the fundamental problem here is that DC Comics characters are generally not as interesting as Marvel characters... they have a few fan favourites (and most of them are from the Batman franchise, BTW), whereas Marvel literally has a throng of complex characters, including an Armya Hulk...

Anyway, I hope that they go ahead with the Harley Quinn spin-off movie...
