One of my favourite endings was to John Carpenter's The Thing. The Thing has a recurring motif concerning how to spot an imitation. In the words of Childs earlier in the film, "If I was a perfect imitation, how would you know I was really me?" The film gives us clues on how to spot an imitation, and when Childs shows up in the final scene, the film doesn't spell anything out. Is Childs an imitation? We need to piece it together using subtle clues placed through out the film. It's satisfying because I like puzzle's, but the thoughtful defiance exhibited by Mac right up to the final scene is also cathartic in a way. You rarely have protagonists in horror films that are this thoughtful

Hi Kyle----I'm over here, TOO, now!! ! Boy, you sure did work your butt off to keep this thread alive!! I'm thinking of doing the same thing with "Hollywood Trivia", over there. I could help you here, if you would help me there. You can do movie stuff (I don't see anything wrong with posting on both----I KNOW you know enough stuff), and I'll do mostly "celebrity stuff".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, to the subject at hand.... I agree with the posters who posted these movies:
The Shawshank Redemption
Smokey and the Bandit
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (The original version, of course.)
Twister
I would also add:
(These are your typical "And they all lived happily ever after" movies.)
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (I'm sorry, but this is one of my all-time favorite movies.)
King Ralph
Mulholland Drive, actually the first time I saw it I didn't like it. It took me waiting 4 years and watching it again to really enjoy it. When I watched it again the ending felt so complete, like it tied the whole dream together in a nice neat little bowed packed.
That, and I really enjoyed the part where President Sawyer invites John Cale onboard Marine One for the ride to the hospital, saying "Special Agent Cale! I'm not leaving without my protection." Even Emily is invited aboard, and of course all of them get to do "the thing."
