Hey, I'm an avid standup comedian fan. Anyone else like me love standup comedy? Let's share some of our favorites. Here are two of my favorite comedians- Dave Chapelle and Doug Stanhope...

I like Dave Chapelle for his crazy stories, his wacky character dialogue, and he comes off as an original.

I like doug stanhope because he is dirty, disgusting, blunt, truthful, and extremely controversial all in such a hilarious way... There isn't really a comedian like him because they don't have the balls to standup infront of a crowd and tell them how it is, and be funny about it too.. You just have to watch his DVD's... which you can find on google video... I think... you can find all of them. Same with chapelle too.

Wanna see someone there's no one like?

Buy the Bill Hicks Live Dvd. Three standup specials and a 30min bio. Enjoy it, 'cause there won't be anymore - he died in 1994.

More great material on the Dangerous, Relentless, Arizona Bay and Rant in E Minor Cds.

If you don't laugh yourself sick, you're just not evolved enough to appreciate truly acerbic and insightful political and social commentary, with d**k jokes.

"She said 'You ever try it?" I said "Yeah...

...almost broke my back..."

Dave Chapelle is fairly amusing, but I'd hardly classify him as ground-breaking.

Sweet yeah I like Bill Hicks a lot. He's similar to doug stanhope, I even think Stanhope was influenced a bit by him. Define ground breaking, because I've never referred to a comedian as ground breaking.

Bill hicks was amazing. One I really like today is Josh Blue making fun of his disability.

There was an identical thread as this a while back. And I'll give the same answer I gave then....

Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, and Louis CK - in that order. Gotta love a guy who refers to his sweet little 4yo daughter as an a**hole! Dave Chapelle may not be the most ground-breaking, but I think he's just about as funny as it can get! Wish he'd come back!

actually if you wanna see Bill Hicks you can watch just about any Dennis Leary or Drew Carry standup because they steal half their bits from Hicks =P. I come across tons of stuff on comedy central that is stolen Hicks stuff. Stinks, but shows what a hilarious guy he was.

Anyways, other than hicks, favorites are

Emo Phillips
Zach Galifianakis
Mitch Hedberg
David Cross
Todd Berry

Thank you thank you for reminding me I've been trying to figure out the name of the guy "Josh blue" for ages. He is so funny and one of the few people who can laugh and make fun of their disability.

Patton Oswalt, just for the bit about meeting George Lucas prior to the release of Episode I.

Lucas: "Do you like Darth Vader?"
Oswalt: "Oh yeah, he's a great bad guy! And that helmet and stuff, it's classic!"
Lucas: "Well, in this movie, we get to see him as a little boy. And then his mom dies, and he's very sad."

There are more, but they're already listed.
