Here are some speculations that i worked out for the final 3 specials in Doctor who

Image
The Unknown Entity possessing Sky Silvestry (Lesley Sharp) from Midnight

"He will Knock 4 times"- Carmen from Doctor who special Planet of the Dead

in the Doctor Who trailer of waters of Mars, you saw something knocking 4 times, remember that unknown entity who possesed Sky Silvestry from the Doctor Who episode Midnight, the that is knocking 4 times in the Waters Of Mars could actually be that unknown Entity from Midnight, you have all seen a red-eye ood in filming the christmas specials, many people say that it is Ood Sigma, i do not agree, This could more likely be an Ood which first appeared in waters of Mars, i thnk the reason why this Ood has red Eye is because, it is Possesed by that Unknown entity from Midnight. these are only my Speculations, but i do Know for Sure that the Unknown Entity from Midinight is going to return at the Last 3 2009 special's, the reason is that its real identity was not revealed, here are Some possibilities of the real Identity of the Midnight Monster.
The Master
The Monk
Rassilion
Omega
The Beast
i am very certain that the unknown enemy from Midnight could possibly be the main villan in the final 3 specials

Doctor with red eye Ood (The reason why that Ood has red eye is because it could be possesed by the unknown enemy from Midnight)

in my opinion Midnight was the most scariest episodes in series 4 of the New series of Doctor Who, you know why, because the villan was not revealed. i think it is definatley coming back in the final 3 specials and will reveal its true identity, It is that unknown villan from Midnight that is going to "Knock four times". i feel this mysterious villan from midnight who ever it is is going to be the Main villan in the final 3 Specials

That would be really cool, if it came back. I loved Midnight - great episode.
I must say that, if it is a returning character, I hope the monster's ID is kept a secret for a long time. Why rush something creepy and mysterious into becoming known and familiar? It's much better if it remains an unknown enemy for a bit. (:

However, my suspicion (and hope) is that it is a brand new character. Besides, it can't be the master himself since the sunlight hurt even the Doctor. Maybe the Master is involved somehow (ie: trying to have control over the creature - that won't end well) , but it couldn't have been physically him out there.

maybe that midnight thing was the Master, during the end of the Last of the time Lords, The Master wanted Lucy Saxon to kill him to escape, that mysterious womens who picked up the Masters ring could be Lucy Saxon, the Masters ring contains his Sole, i do not think there was a physical him, maybe the creature could be the Master, but without a body of his own, Just like Voldemort in the first 4 Harry Potter episodes.

That seems possible with your reasoning...
Though, when 'Skye' was under its control, there certainly was no physical body besides her own present. It seems like the monster doesn't rely on a physical body to emulate/understand/'become' a person - which, based on that one episode, seems to be its major ability. An approach/power like that just doesn't scream Timelord to me.

But it certainly used something physical to dent the sides of the transporter and to rip the cockpit off. Whether that 'something' was its own body, that of a host, or some another influence is unknown, but something had to have been able to survive outside in the poison sun in order for it to do that. So there must be some kind of a physical creature.
But the question remains, what kind of creature is it? There is likely to be more than just one 'monster' on Midnight, if they are indigenous to the planet.

If they do return to that plot in the last three David Tennant episodes, do you think maybe they could be what causes him to regenerate?
If they don't, I do hope that they will return to it during the 11th incarnation's time. They couldn't let such an enigmatic idea as the monster on Midnight go completely to waste. (:

I think the Midnight creature was a wholly unrelated creature. I thought it was a kind of intelligent meme, not unlike the memetic disease seen in Pontypool (that's a horror movie, by the way, about a memetic disease).

The biggest hole in your theory is this: in the trailer for Waters of Mars, the Doctor knows that what happens on Mars is fixed in space-time. Yet in Midnight, he had never really truly seen anything like Sky Silvestry's condition.

I also find it highly unlikely, from a writer's point-of-view, that Russell T Davies, who wrote Midnight, would ruin the mystery about the Midnight creature after deliberately leaving it unknown. I'm guessing that you've never watched The Prisoner.

i think that midnight thing is going to return at the end of waters of mars and possess an ood (you could see a red eye ood on film, this could mean the Ood is possesed by that midnight thing). that is what is knocking "four times" in the end of the Waters of Mars trailer.

What we have here is failure to communicate.

then what was that knocking for times in Waters of Mars?
What was that Ood with the red Eye?

I think these thing all connect with the Midnight Monster

I think that that theory is riddled with more holes than a Swiss cheese, and about as palatable.

One: an Ood with Red Eye basically means that it is succumbing to a strong external telepathic influence. It could mean anything from the Master to the Black Guardian.

Two: The Ood's significance may be due to the fact that Ood Sigma stated that the Doctor's song will end soon.

Three: This is from a commentary with David Tennant and Julie Gardner talking about the 'knock four times' line:

Quote:
David Tennant
Really, from this moment on, the Doctor's card is marked. Because when we come back in "The Waters of Mars", it's all become a little bit darker"

Julie Gardner
And as we know, David, he really does knock four times.

Tennant
Yeah, absolutely, and if you think you've figured out what that means, you're wrong!

Gardner
But when you do figure it out, it's a sad day.

Four: It has been confirmed that The Waters of Mars is not the first part of a three-part story. It is closely linked to the next two, but I find it doubtful that the Master or Mr Midnight is there.

Five (and the most devastating blow): Midnight appears to take place further in the future than The Waters of Mars. The reason is logical: By the events of Midnight, humanity has clearly reached worlds well beyond the solar system, whereas the colony in The Waters of Mars appears to be a new one, presumably done during the first few centuries of space exploration.

Six: Assuming point five to be true, Ood Sigma couldn't possibly be in this one, as the events of The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and Planet of the Ood take place around the 42nd century. Off-hand, I would say that The Waters of Mars is between the late 21st and 23rd centuries. Unless he appears as a hallucination (given what RTD said about the last specials, that may be likely), he ain't in The Waters of Mars.

what was that thing knocking 4 times. i do not think that the Doctor know what happens in the fixed events in Waters of Mars 100% even though Waters of Mars is set years before Midnight, remember in sci fi anything is possible.

Buggered if I know, but for all I know, it's probably one of the Martian water-zombies. And remember that even the most obscure sci-fi must follow SOME kind of logic.

in conclusion this is what is going to happen, in the end of Waters of Mars that midnight monster returns, knocking 4 times (as you saw in the trailer in "Waters of Mars"), then it possesses an Ood (I think this time unlike its last appearence the Midnight Monster would not need to steal any voices as the Ood is fitted with an Ood Sphere) then The Midnight Monster will reveal its true Identity which could be the Master.

I would bet money on the fact that the Midnight Monster is not the Master.
