From a new source I read on the interent, it claims that Ellen Degerious will be replacing Paula Abdul as the forth judge on AI.

What were they thinking?! Ellen doesn't have much to offer except laughs, but I don't recall her ever singing, signing contrats nor playing a musical insturment.

Does anyone agree with me that this is a completely stupid idea?!

Yes, as I put in the Random forum this morning - I think this will be a death-blow to the show. One which is long overdue, IMO!

I only watched American Idol once and that was during the preliminaries when they encourage people to get on national TV to humiliate themselves. Why do people enjoy that?

So they make a drastic improvement over Paula and they will be ending the show by improving it? How does that work?

At least Ellen is not out of her mind. But any way for the show to implode and die should be implemented.

Why's that? It's a very entertaining show, at least once they get past the cruddy auditions. The show provided us with good singers like Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, Bo Bice and David Cook. If you don't like the show, no one forces you to watch it.
