I assume this is a joke, but you do realize Beowulf is a story originally told in Old English, an Old English heroic epic.

Gees. Yes, I know what Beowulf is, and yes this was a joke. It's making fun of the movie. <sigh>

It was hard for me, growing up, to understand humor. I apologize. :? But now I understand and have been taught well by my husband. He has since warped me. Now humor is something I understand.

No need to apologize. The movie took itself way too serious while butchering the original story. :)

I think they did some overly-conscious pitching to certain markets with the movie (not that there's anything wrong with that-Sienfeld), but the fact that the women were sort of one-dimensional, and the men got all the attention, made me wonder sometimes...;)

Actually, if anything, I reckon that the female characters got more characterisation than the male ones.

To be frank, I read the original poem recently, and thought it shallow. At least the movie tried to improve on it. That being said, the best adaptation of Beowulf, in my opinion, was the book Grendel by John Gardener.
