I think it is hated on more than it should be. I mean it wasn't by any means a good movie but some of the ideas they had where pretty interesting. And the kid who played Kyle Reece was amazing, I think with a different director and the movie focusing more on him as well as the over the top violence terminator is known for it could have been a much better movie. I also liked the concept of the Terminators trying to kill him because he is John's father. I also liked how the ending set up for a remake of Terminator 1 (as long as McG doesn't direct it...)

@Xenu: the kid who plays Kyle reese plays chekov in the Star trek 2009 movie. (his name is anton yelchin) I don't think a remake would work very well... schwarzenegger IS the terminator. but we'll see...

Really you didn't like the TV series? I myself was in love with it. It was kind of like the new Star Trek Movie as it took place in an alternate universe and focused more on the story than the action.

I couldn't stand T3 though... It just felt cheap, fake and a parody of the first two films.

@Xenu: I thought the tv series was okay... it was better than t3..... just not NEARLY as good as T1 and T2. T3 was bad... but Arnold saved it from being awful IMO

I've been over the Terminator franchise since I watched the pointless T3.

Salvation was worse than I expected by far, though still better than T3. It's been a while since I saw it so I don't remember precisely what things I decided didn't make sense with the plot, besides not knowing where the humans were still able to get enough fuel from to power their jets and helicopters, or why all of those years after the nuclear holocaust of Judgment Day, things were STILL on fire... stuff like that gets to me.

As for the rest of the series...

T1 was pretty good, minus the choppy claymation-like animation of the T-800 at the end, although I understand that was the limits of their technology par their budget at the time. B+

T2 was excellent, nuff said. A+

T3 was, like Xenu mentioned, came off as a parody of the series. Lots of cheesy lines and I couldn't buy the whole thing about the miracle nanobots that can let the TX control vehicles that can't have the mechanics to accept remote control, or that the TX was stupid and transformed back into its true form while walking toward its target while camouflaged as its fiancee, or how even though it's designed to destroy other terminators, decided not to terminate the good T-800 but rather re-program it, and even then it utterly failed at that simple task. I could go on and on about why I want to punch everyone who made that movie possible. F-

And yeah, T4 could've been a lot better, at least it made few enough references to T3 such that I could pretend that movie didn't exist. C.

And the Sarah Conner Chronicles, they were okay. I was never quite sure how or if they'd ever fit into the movie series, and was disappointed how they were always teasing us with all of those near-misses where they'd almost stumble upon what the audience already knew but kept dragging it out until the end of the 2nd season or so, and now apparently the series is canceled so I dunno, made the whole thing so pointless. C+.

The Terminator series is a prevalent sci-fi series, but not because of the man vs machine plot. Three of the four movies include a real human element.

In T1, John Connor travels back in time to save his mother, and become his own father, if I remember correctly.

In T2... alot of things happen. Ultimately, we are given hope than machines can learn from humans, and peace will be achieved.

In T3, There's an idiotically large fight between 2 terminators. Also, the two humans learn to love each other. That was important, because there has NEVER been a movie made about romance. :? This is my least favorite part of the series.

T4 brought the human element back, thankfully, with a story of redemption. Some may find aspects of the main characters arch corny, but I prefer it to the endless combat of Judgment Day.

I never saw much of the TV series, but I fell that it was generally a poor idea, as it was largely based on the third movie.

I know now why you cry.

T3 was lulzy, T4 had robotic fish.

The only good part about T4 was the Arnold 3D model. They should've scrapped the rest of the movie. Just take the Arnold model, and make a CGI movie around it. A real Terminator movie.

I actually enjoyed both T3 and Salvation.

T3 I enjoyed because it focuses on how everything first gets started with SkyNet, and also shows the very first Terminator models.

Salvation I enjoyed the action sequences, and I must say for a movie I literally expected nothing from, I generally walked away halfway satisfied ':B-)
