Is it me or is Spongebob the modern day animated version of Pee-wee Herman? I mean think about it:
-They're both adults, yet act like children
-They both have high voices
-They both have a ton of different friends
-They both have at least one grouchy person in their lives (Captain Carl and Squidward)
-There's a character that has a crush on them, but they're clueless about it (Dottie from Pee-wee's Big Adventure/Ms. Yvonne from Pee-wee's Playhouse and Sandy Cheeks)

Here's the comparisons between Pee-wee's Big Adventure and SpongeBob Squarepants the Movie:
-Both movies begin with a dream (Pee-wee in the Le Tour de France race and Spongebob helps a customer with a krabby patty)
-Both movies feature the main character having a pet (Pee-wee has his dog Speck and Spongebob has Gary)
-Both movies show the character getting ready in the morning
-Both movies show something getting stolen (Pee-wee's bike and Neptune's Crown)
-Both movies feature a road trip
-Both movies feature a bar/motorcycle scene

Good points :) I thought you were going to ask for an analysis of whether or not they count as cartoon aspies!

But they are both from different eras so they can use relatively the same formulas for constructing plot lines.
