On both "Garfield and Friends" and the new Garfield show (the CGI-animated one on Cartoon Network), what is the deal between Garfield and Nermal?

I do remember believing that Nermal was a girl, until I found out that its a he in the comics.

Other then that... I got nothing. Maybe one of Jon's friends owns Nermal.

I do not know if the shows keep with the comic strip, but in the comics, Nermal showed up one day and it was implied that he was Jon's parent's cat. Jon then said something about Nermal being the cutest kitten in the world and then Garfield felt ignored and took to seriously disliking Nermal. Nermal rolled with it and has since been annoying Garfield with cuteness.

I remembered when Garfield used to mail Nermal to Abu Dhabi on the old show. Garfield probably found out that the United Arab Emirates is now a key player in the global economy, so he stopped trying.

Heh. I think you might be on to something there. That amused me a lot.

Did Jim Davis also draw U.S. Acres?

Yeah, I think he did. That had Sheldon in it, no? That guy was great what with his legs and big feet sticking out of that egg, just walking around... I have not thought of that comic in a long time.

Yep, that was the one. I always used to call Sheldon "egg with the feet".
