A 2nd Disney Renaissance?

Do you think there'll be one? If you think about it, Disney of today has some parallel to the Disney twenty years ago. During the '80s Disney was in a slump, churning out mediocre films, until the release of The Little Mermaid in 1989, which ushered in the Disney Renaissance of the 1990s.

The same can be said for the 2000s, up until the release of The Princess and the Frog in 2009, which was a commercial success. Do you think that will usher in another Disney Renaissance for the next (or rather, this) decade?

I think it's too soon to tell. The Princess & the Frog is just one movie.

Agreed. It's far too soon to tell. I will say that Disney is on a slow track to improvement/recovery. But I dont expect Disney to make any bona-fide hits like the fab four. (Though there has been some good talk about Rapunzel so I wouldnt be surprised if it does better than The Princess and the Frog financially).

No, I don't think we can call a second Renaissance on Disney just yet.

If they overhaul or shut down Disney Channel, then we can call it.
