At the moment, after one of my teachers somewhat convinced my friends that Forrest Gump is a good representation of Aspergers Syndrome, I've been looking for a film to somewhat remove that thought from their heads. I've came across 2 films, so far, relating to Aspergers Syndrome: "Adam" and "Mozart and the Whale". Are there any other ones I should know about? Which is the best one I could possibly show them?

I considered "Adam", purely because he has a quote that suggests how different he is to Forrest Gump himself, but I think he makes too much eye-contact/goes to the extremes to be considered a good representation. Mozart and the Whale, on the otherhand, shows an excellent representation of what I consider AS is, but focuses too much on the romance/drama and too little on what AS actually is, in my opinion.

What are your thoughts?

You could consider Lars and the real girl.
I think the autist is supposed to be Lars, but I felt more like the doll in the way the people interacted with her.

I did not like Mozart and the Whale; it was a bit too much romance and strange situations. My life is pretty boring and I think that is the case for most people here.

The most realistic representation I've seen of real problems is A dangerous Woman although AS was not specifically intended. Martha is probably moderate functioning. Here's a clip.

I think the best represenation of someone with Asperger's Syndrome is yet to come. I'm actually trying to get Look Me In The Eye by John Elder Robison made into a film. I sure as hell would jump at the chance to play him, there wouldn't be much "getting into character" with me in regards to Asperger's Syndrome, since I am all too well acquainted with it.

"Snow Cake" might be of interest to you as well.
