No this is not for The Dark Knight Rises, this is for any future Batman film series, Who could do a better Joker than Julian Bleach, Doctor Who fans may recognize him for playing Davros in the 2008 Doctor Who episodes Stolen Earth/ Journeys End, The Ghost Maker from the Torchwood episode "From Out Of The Rain", and recently the Jokeresque Nightmare Man in Doctor Who Spinoff Sarah Jane Adventures, If I took over the Batman Franchise I would chose Julian Bleach to play the Joker. Here are some pictures and the entire Sarah Jane Adventures episode about The Nightmare Man, to see why he should be the next Joker

I'm going for either James Franco or Jake Gyenhall for the role of the clown prince of crime.

So, THAT's what Julian Bleach looks like without make-up. I've always wondered, because he always seems to have make-up on.

I have to be honest, Bleach would make a good choice for the Joker, but I actually thought Reece Shearsmith might be a good choice. He plays the scary clown/blackface minstrel/demonic circus leader Papa Lazarou in The League of Gentlemen, and embittered and unintentionally scary clown Mr Jelly from Psychoville. He knows how to play clowns that are scary, and in the case of Mr Jelly, infuse them with some actual depth.

So did I. Some time ago, I think it was some time last year, I posted in such a thread that I would consider Reece Shearsmith a good Joker candidate, and this was well before I saw him as Mr Jelly in Psychoville.

What Julian Bleach has what Reece Shearsmith does not have to play the Joker is the looks, not only Julian Bleach has the talent to play the Joker, he looks like the Joker.

Not to mention the ability to be subtle as a villain. Davros was a villain who was far more of a ranter and one-dimensional villain during too many of his stories. Besides the original story, Genesis of the Daleks (where he was played by the late Michael Wisher), his finest hour was in Revelation of the Daleks, where Terry Malloy actually succeeds in not only giving Davros a strong degree of subtlety, but a sense of humour. The story involves Davros turning humans in suspended animation into Daleks, or else food. When the Doctor asks him if Davros told the people in a galaxy that nearly suffered famine that they might be eating their own relatives, Davros replies "CERTAINLY NOT! That would have created what I believe is termed...'consumer resistance'."

Julian Bleach, as Davros, manages to give him an air of quiet menace that seems even better than the original actor, Michael Wisher. Oh, he does go into bat-s*** crazy ranting when the situation requires, but his first conversation with the Doctor in The Stolen Earth is an excellent example of his subtlety. The ability to go from subtlety to insanity is a good sign that he would make a good Joker, leaving aside his looks.

You were quite right with Julian Bleach playing Davros, Do not forget the Ghost Maker in Torchwood.

Image

Besides did you know Julian Bleach was in Brothers Grimm with Heath Ledger who played the Joker in The Dark Knight.

I don't watch Torchwood, but I did look for pictures of Bleach as the Ghost Maker in From Out of the Rain after I heard of the Torchwood link.

And no, I didn't know he had been in The Brothers Grimm.

Julian Bleach played the creature in the 2007 adaptation of Frankenstein with Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy from Harry Potter) This could be another reason why Julian Bleach should play The Joker.
