Who here has watched Adam? I have and I thought some aspects were accurate.

Anyone else view this differently?

I thought that it was fairly accurate in as much as every Aspie is an individual and their experience may be similar or different. I decided not to keep the movie because I really hate the ending. I have enough endings like that in life, I don't need to see it in a movie.

Yes, but the story really isn't about romance. It's mainly about Adam becoming independent, instead of moving on to another relation where he can depend on somebody else to give him guidance. It would have been a lot less meaningful if it turned into another generic romantic comedy where the guy gets the girl in the end.

I just saw it the other day. I liked it for the most part. My only problem with it, at least from my personal persepective is that if I were to recommend it to friends/family, they would see that Adam is much more "out there" than I am and I think it would lead them to believe I either don't have Asperger's or that I "don't have it very bad" and should be able to be more normal.

I just watched it on DVD. It was the 2nd time I'd seen it, the first being in the movie theater last year. I still think the romantic relationship between Beth and Adam was highly improbable, and there were scenes that hit a little too close to home for me. It also seemed to reinforce the idea that people with Asperger's aren't "relationship material."

The benefit of seeing it on DVD is that I was able to see the alternate ending (which didn't really make any sense to me) and the deleted scenes. With the deleted scenes, I think three of them should've been left in the movie as I think they did a good job of showing how difficult things can be for us. The scenes are the alternate funeral scene, the interview advice that Harlan gives Adam, and the fight on the stoop.

This is just my opinion, though. Take it for what it's worth.

ya i liked it...some of the scenes hit close to home and i had to wonder if that's how i appear to NTs...i've recommended it to family and some friends but only those that know me and they know that there are differences between me and Adam but that doesn't mean i don't have AS.

I would have prefered it if at the end he had ripped up the book and said, "racoons dont bloody wear clothes!"
