Top 5 Best (and Worst) Episodes of YOUR Favorite Show!
Rather than make this a discussion about ONE good show, I thought I'd make it about whatever YOUR favorite show is, whatever that may be. But we must remember nothing's perfect, so I encourage you to think of your least favorite as much as your MOST favorite. I'll be starting with MY favorite show...Star Trek! Including one episode from each of the five series. Remember these are my personal favorites, this is no official list. I encourage you to do the same.
THE BEST
1. City On The Edge of Forever (TOS)
The Enterprise crew goes back in time, and unless they let someone die then the Nazis will win World War II. So many of the original series episodes were cheesy or goofy (and we'll be getting to that), but this one just nails it. Great acting, great story, and a great ending line ("Let's get the hell out of here"). For once we see Kirk as a passionate man who loves to much instead of an incorrigible ham who has to bone anything remotely female. Everything just works in this episode and it shows.
2. The Inner Light (TNG)
Picard discovers an alien probe and lives an entire lifetime with a dead alien civilization in less than a hour. TNG at its most touching. The scene before Picard wakes up, and the end when he's alone playing the flute left behind by the dead civilization, it's hard not to get misty.
3. In The Pale Moonlight (DS9)
Sisko agrees to create a false crisis so the Romulans will join in the fight against the Dominion. DS9 at its most complex. A lot of people have strong feelings either way about this episode, and in the end there are no easy answers. What makes it spectacular though is Avery Brooks as Sisko narrating the entire incident to his personal log as a framing device before deleting the entry at the end of the episode. A spectacular performance for a spectacular episode.
4. The Thaw (Voyager)
The Voyager crew tries to awaken a crew trapped in a computer-generated fever dream based on their fears, presided over by an evil clown played by Michael McKean. A personal favorite, this one really gives Voyager's crew a chance to shine while having the flavor of an TOS episode. Also the scenes where Robert Picardo as The Doctor (IMO Voyager's best character) works opposite McKean are a hoot.
5. In A Mirror Darkly (ENT)
An entire episode set in the Mirror Universe where humans enslaved all the Vulcans after First Contact. Hell yes! What makes this episode stand out is that NOT ONCE do characters from the primary universe get involved, so we get to revel in the darkness onscreen. They also use sets and costumes made to look like the TOS, finally linking the two shows together. What's great about it? WE BUY IT. Finally we buy ENT as a prequel to TOS!
THE WORST
1. The Way to Eden (TOS)
The Enterprise taken over by a group of space hippies! Give me a break! A lame attempt by TOS to comment on the 60's counter-culture movement and figures like Timothy Leary. And while I usually feel charitable towards Chekov, you can see what a real boat anchor to the crew he could be in this situation.
2. Force of Nature (TNG)
Star Trek comments on global warming! I've sat through plenty of bad or mediocre TNG episodes, but this is the only one I remember explicitly not-caring-anymore about by the halfway point. And instead of a satisfying ending I remember just rolling my eyes by the conclusion. I didn't even have that while watching "The Neutral Zone". The subplot about Data training his cat was more interesting.
3. Profit and Lace (DS9)
Quark becomes a woman. Y'know, I usually enjoy comedy episodes, and DS9 did this better than any other Star Trek series. "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" and "His Way" are among my favorites (I'm one of the few who actually digs Vic Fontaine). But as if Quark becoming a woman wasn't a horrifying enough concept, it's not even funny! If you're gonna put a guy in a dress (nevermind a Ferengi), you'd better make me laugh!
4. Threshold (Voyager)
Tom Paris manages to go Warp 10 (improbable), begins to evolve at an incredible rate (impossible), then all of a sudden JANEWAY begins to evolve as well (very unlikely), and finally they evolve into lizard creatures and mate (ridiculous). And at the end it's cured with a hypospray and never mentioned again (insulting). Star Trek has always had fakey science, but the science in this episode is pure BS. And it's in service to a horrible story.
5. Acquisition (ENT)
The Ferengi try to take over the Enterprise when everyone's unconscious. Everyone acts stupid or out of character, Trip spends the majority of the episode in his underwear, and at the end the Ferengi aren't named because the Federation won't have official contact with them for another 200 years. One of the reasons I'm grateful they jettisoned Brannon Braga by the last season and replaced him with Manny Coto.

My favorite show is Star Wars The Clone Wars. Of the ones i've seen, my favorites are
Deserter
On Saleucami, Clone Captain Rex is critically injured by a Droid sniper. Desperately, the other clones bring him to a local ranch owned by a Twi'lek woman. Although distrustful, the Twi'lek agrees to watch over the healing Captain Rex while the other Clones spread out to search for General Greivous. Rex later finds out the reason why the Twi'lek farmer is distrustful of him: her husband is a Clone Deserter. At first, Rex wants to report him to the authorites, but through interacting with the Clone and his wife and adopted Twi'lek kids as well as helping the deserter protect his family from a squad of Commando Droids, Rex learns that the deserter is a good man and a good father and deserves to remain with his children rather than return to Kamino to face the consequences. I love the moral questions brought up in the episode and how Rex begins to understand that the Republic shouldn't treat the clones like droids, but as human beings.
Trespass
I'm not going to explain the episodes anymore due t time, but this episode is a parallel to the annexing of America by the Europeans as well as the subjugation of the Amerindians.
Landing At Point Rain
This episode is the most action heavy episode of the series. It reminds me of Republic Commando.
The Mandalore Plot
This episode introduced Mandalore and the Mandalorians. It also marks the first canonical appearance of a black-bladed saber. Also, this episode had a shocking suicide scene(This show used to be marketed towards children, but in the second season, mature themes have been introduced)
Rookiees
In it's first run, this episode featured a clone trooper saying hell. Also, this episode was action heavy, had a great story and characters, and featured self-sacrifice to save others. It was the first mature episode of the show.
Worst
Bombad Jedi
Although it had some of the greatest music in the series, this episode was boring and childish.
Senate Murders
With a shallow plot and an annoying cliche noir detective with ridiculous features who was voiced by spongebob himself, this is the worst episode in the series.
episode 12 first season
I forget the name, but this episode featured Jar Jar voiced by another actor who made Jar Jar sound terrible. The episode was also dumb.
Cat and Mouse
This was a pointless flashback episode that is chronologically the first and is only about space battles. Although I like that, it just seems disconnected and pointless in regards to the ongoing story.
Children of The Force or something like that
Action baby rescue!! ! This episode had a dumb plot and marked the last time Cad Bane was ever in the show. It's been five months and I expect him to be in the finale because he's an awesome character and this whole season was supposed to feature him as a major reoccurring villain.
I have several favorite shows, but I'll stick to a few of them.
Seinfeld:
- The one where George gets Steinbrenner addicted to Calzones and Jerry's dating a hot girl that gets anything she wants from anyone.
- The one where Kramer and Newman drink a lot of soda and bring the cans to Michigan to get 5 extra cents a piece for them.
- The one where Jerry's dating a deaf woman that can read lips and they go to a party to have her pay attention to distant conversations.
- The one where George tries to have sex, eat, and watch TV all at the same time.
- The much hated finale. Was the first episode I saw (and only episode I saw originally aired) and after watching it again after becoming a fan of the show, it sent chills down my spine at the end where they're all locked in the jail cell together and they fade away.
Have seen every episode, and while there are maybe 10 or 20 that I thought were "meh" I never saw any I absolutely hated.
X-Files:
- The one where a guy invents time travel then comes back from the future to prevent the young him from inventing it.
- The black and white one with The Great Mutato.
- The one where the guy has incredibly good luck but his good luck causes back to others and the Mob is after him because he tried to cheat them out of money in a game of cards.
- The one where Scully is being followed by the Super Soldiers because they need to talk to Mulder.
- The one where the guy is on trial for being framed for his wife's murder and the days go backwards in time and he starts to realize who framed him and why and he gets a second chance to stop the murder.
Worst episodes:
As good as the show was, there was the occasional bad episode. Here's a few that come to mind.
- The one where Scully runs into a professor she had an affair with in medical school and it's like a total soap opera episode and they imply that Mulder and Scully slept together.
- The one called "The Field Where I Died" about the civil war. I was falling asleep the whole episode.
- Jose Chung's From Outer Space...lots of people think it was really funny but I didn't laugh once and felt bad for everyone involved in the episode.
Those are the only ones I remember despising.
My favorite show is Beavis & Butthead.
Top 5 Best Episodes:
The Great Cornholio - Cornholio wreaks havoc at school by invading the girls' bathroom, interrupting Spanish class and "wandering the halls, bringing prophecies of a great plague".
Vaya Con Cornholio - Cornholio gets questioned by the Immigration Department and deported because his Spanish accent makes everyone think he's an illegal immigrant from South America.
They're Coming to Take Me Away, Huh-huh - Beavis & Butthead get psychiatric evaluations from the school counselor.
The Final Judgment of Beavis - Beavis dies and gets his life reviewed by St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. Meanwhile, Butthead tries to bury his body.
Pregnant Pause - Beavis worries that he might be pregnant.
Top 5 Worst Episodes
Choke - Butthead chokes on a chicken nugget and Beavis tries to save him. Well, sort of. Naturally I hate this episode because it's entirely centered on my phobia.
The Pipe of Doom - Beavis gets stuck in a pipe at a construction site. I don't find this funny because I think that being stuck would be terrifying.
Pool Toys - Mr. Anderson asks Beavis & Butthead to make a pool for him. However, they fill the whole thing with concrete and get stuck in it. I hate this episode for the same reasons as The Pipe of Doom.
Beaverly Buttbillies - Beavis & Butthead try to strike oil. No real reason to hate this episode; I just thought it was dumb, and not in a good way.
Plastic Surgin' - Beavis & Butthead opt for plastic surgery. I hate this episode for the same reasons as Beaverly Buttbillies.
I'll do two TV shows, Doctor Who and Blake's 7. I may not be able to think of my five least favourite shows for either, but I will try. It's also hard to pick and choose stories from so many good ones, especially from Doctor Who.
Best Doctor Who stories:
1. The Curse of Fenric: In its fully unedited form, it is perhaps the ultimate Doctor Who adventure, especially where the Doctor is shown to have a much darker side than usual, and the companion, Ace, does some growing up.
2. Revelation of the Daleks: One of the best and darkest Doctor Who stories, the only thing truly marring this was the god-awful performance of Jenny Tomasin as Tasembeker. Terry Molloy has his best performance as Davros, and this is a surprisingly good story, despite the fact that the Doctor and Peri don't actually enter the main part of the story until halfway through.
3. Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead: Steven Moffat is a brilliant writer for Doctor Who at the best of times, and this story of predatory shadows, a mysterious library, and the enigmatic River Song hits all the right buttons of horror, humour, and drama.
4. The Deadly Assassin: The first story to be set entirely on Gallifrey, and the first story where the Doctor doesn't have a companion, this brilliant political thriller combines an assassination plot with a virtual reality battle...in the Matrix, over two decades before The Matrix!
5. City of Death: A comedic Doctor Who episode...in Paris...involving the theft of the Mona Lisa... and time travel experiments...it shouldn't work, but it does. All the more surprising, then, that it was a last-minute script, co-written by Douglas Adams.
Worst Doctor Who stories:
1. The Underwater Menace: Normally, I wouldn't put incomplete/missing stories in here but after watching the surviving episode and reading the novelisation, well, I know it was Joseph Furst's real accent, but he loses a lot of authority screaming 'Nuzzink in ze vorld can ztop me now!! !'
2. Love & Monsters: This is a comedic Doctor Who story that does not work. Maybe it's a commentary on fans in general, but really, I don't like this story.
3. Warriors of the Deep: Ingrid Pitt trying to do kung-fu fighting against an alien pantomime horse with electric skin. Could have been much better.
4. Doctor Who: The Movie: It could have been a hell of a lot worse, and Paul McGann does his best, but in retrospect, the special effects make the ones from the old days look good, and the plot is full of Fridge Logic.
Can't think of a fifth story. On to Blake's 7:
Best five Blake's 7 episodes:
1. Gambit: This episode has everything: Homophobia, threats of evisceration and/or rape, artificial limbs, bugs, gambling, fraud, brain-surgeons, and a homicidal chess-playing dwarf. I wish I was making it up.
2. Seek-Locate-Destroy: The first episode to introduce Servalan and Travis, we get a little more insight into Blake's past. And we see the beginnings of an obsession Travis has with Blake...
3. The City at the Edge of the World: Vila's time to shine, as the cowardly thief is forced to undergo a dangerous mission. Colin Baker makes an appearance as the psychotic criminal Bayban the Butcher.
4. Rumours of Death: Easily Avon's best episode, we see into his damaged psyche, and how some ghosts from the past should remain buried.
5. Blake: The final episode, and one of the best endings for television. Or the worst, depending on your point of view.
Top 5 worst Blake's 7 episodes:
1. Power: Misogynistic, and with no clear resolution, plus a very dissatisfying reappearance for Soolin.
2. Dawn of the Gods: Uggghhh...where to begin? Good premise, but left too open-ended, and it would have been better for the Tharn to be more ambiguous in nature, instead of revealing him to be just another rubber-foreheaded alien. Ultraworld did this, but better.
3. Bounty: Space Arabs and a sad figure of a deposed president? Bleah.
4. Animals: Crappy aliens, and a plot where Dayna doesn't seem to show much moral fibre. Usually she's so decisive, but this...
5. Voice from the Past: This episode fails for one major reason alone: why didn't the Federation activate the conditioning in the first place? But there's also other reasons, like a certain crappy disguise, and special effects that are nasty, even by Blake's 7 standards.

On sabbatical...
I have a couple shows. While they're not my top two favorites, I thought it would be easier to do these two rather than, say, The Simpsons and Doctor Who, which ironically happen to be my real top two favorites.
First up is Cheers...
1. An Old Fashioned Wedding - Woody and Kelly's wedding, predicted by Carla to be a disaster. A classic alternative to the typical sitcom wedding episode, devoid of any sappiness and allowing the cast to be their wonderfully wacky selves.
2. Thanksgiving Orphans - The food fight episode, brilliantly capped off by the only visible appearance of Vera's face (albeit covered in pie).
3. One for the Road - The finale, in which Sam nearly deserts the bar in order to resume his relationship with Diane, only to discover that friendship and faithfulness to your one true love conquer all. Sounds corny, yes, but the writing and the performances sell it. And Sam really is the luckiest sonofabitch on Earth.
4. I Do and Adieu - Shelley Long's last regular episode of the series, in which Sam and Diane almost get married and she ends up leaving him in order to achieve her dreams of becoming a writer.
5. Bar Wars II: The Woodman Strikes Back - Granted, all the episodes that showcased the rivalry between Cheers and Gary's Olde Towne Tavern were great, but this one stands out for me, simply because of Woody. "DON'T RIP OFF THE TAPE!! !"
As for the worst, I really don't have any, although there are some I don't really care for, like the one where Vera was working at Melville's (that would be It's a Wonderful Wife for you fans).
Next up is Ruby Gloom. If you've never heard of that show, just look it up on YouTube, but this is strictly for the fans (if any)...
1. Skull in the Family - Carolyn Hay wrote it, it's got some great character development and humor, Scaredy dances... what's not to love?
2. Last Train to Gloomsville - Pretty much a reminder of how great the cast was; even though the series' future is still in limbo, one wonders if this was supposed to be the finale.
3. Quadro-Gloomia - It's got everything: music, character development, Poe as a superhero, and most importantly, our first glimpse of RubyxSkull Boy.
4. Unsung Hero - Despite having a bit of character development that was eventually dropped (did you know Ruby is tone-deaf? Yeah, neither did the writers after this episode), it's the kind of episode to introduce new fans to. And the songs kick ass.
5. Time Flies - It may be Poe's (and Skull Boy's) episode, but Misery and Scaredy manage to steal it from them in the second act. And I guess Paco was cute.
My least favorite ep is Shaken, Not Scared: Nothing more than a lame Boo Boo premise combined with a half-hour's worth of "Scaredy's afraid of everything" jokes. The fact that this was Robin Stein's only script of the series, and also they never even mentioned the crumpet thing (don't ask) again for the rest of the series, makes me very, very happy.
So, there you go.
My favourite T.V. show remains 'Transformers' (1980s)
The best:
"The Key To Vector Sigma" (2 parts): Megatron steals sports cars to modify into Decepticon warriors so that he may battle the Autobots on the ground, while Optimus Prime and the Autobots do the opposite thing and create Autobot jets. Thus, the Stunticons and Aerialbots are born. The episode is more than just a Stunticons/Aerialbots commercial; it features themes of self-sacrifice (of the old, wise Autobot Alpha Trion), fears (Silverbolt's acrophobia), responsibility (the Aerialbots having to learn that human beings are worth protecting) and it delves a bit into the origins of the Transformers.
"The Return of Optimus Prime" (2 parts): and a triumphant return it is, indeed. Prime's remains are salvaged, while a 'hate spore' is created by people who wish to make all Transformers destroy each other. Prime and a handful of Autobots are Earth's only hope as they must battle foe and friend alike.
"Dark Awakening": Parallel to the episode above, in this one Optimus Prime is resurrected shortly after his death... but as a zombie slave for the Quintessons. His fight with Rodimus and his final sacrifice are among the most touching drama I have seen on a Sat-morn cartoon, and it is one of few cartoon episodes that made me cry as a child.
"The Master Builder": Grapple and Hoist are ambushed by the Constructicons, who offer to help them build Grapple's concept solar collector, a machine of which Optimus Prime had delayed construction because of the risks involved. In his vanity, Grapple seizes the opportunity with both hands, but must eventually learn a painful lesson.
"Starscream's Brigade": Megatron FINALLY kicks Starscream off the Decepticon team... and Starscream FINALLY gets to taste the sweet taste of conquest and subjugation, by employing the aid of 5 rogue Decepticons: the Combaticons.
The worst:
"A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court": A bouple of 'Bots and 'Cons end up in medieval England. Historically incorrect, a flat damsel in distress who ends up romancing with a boorish knight, and Rumble gets pooped on. The ending doesn't even bother to make much sense.
"Carnage in C-Minor": The Decepticons attempt to harness the harmonic voices of a singing alien species. Infamous animation errors in an episode that already suffers from a dubious plot.
"The Gambler": There are fans who quite like this episode for spotlighting Smokescreen. I like Smokescreen a lot, but he appears flat and one-dimensional in this episode, as very much opposed to other Autobots who get their own focus-episode. One would expect the episode to end with a moral like 'gambling is bad', but quite the opposite happens in the end, as the Autobots happily drive back to the city to have Smokescreen try his 'luck' again (i.e. cheating himself a fortune).
"A Thief In The Night": Octane and Trypticon reside in the state of Carbombya (for which the episode already loses points) and embark on a crazy enterprise to steal monuments and hand them to President Fakhadi. Seriously, Trypticon picks up things like the Taj Mahal and brings them to Fakhadi. Also features a quite preposterous side-plot in which Metroplex suspects all dinosaur-based Autobots of stealing the monuments.
"Hoist Goes Hollywood": Exactly what it says on the tin... I wish. It's unfortunate, because it could have been so great. Only 7 minutes in, Hoist has his thunder stolen by 4 other Autobots, among which the Captain Vanities of the squad, Tracks and Sunstreaker. Hoist's movie antics quickly drop out of focus as we turn to Megatron's bumbling attempts to recover 'an important device', which turns out to be a broken invention of Wheeljack's. I personally think the comic book 'Monstercon from Mars', -starring Decepticon Skullgrin- was better, and that's not saying much.

i'm gonna cover 2 shows He-Man and The Masters Of The Universe(1983) and Transformers(US G1 and Japanese G1)
Best Of He-Man
1) The Problem With Power(Season 2)
Skeletor, in his latest scheme to defeat He-Man, resorts to his most insidious resource yet: he manipulates He-Man into believing he has inadvertently killed someone. As He-Man struggles to cope with the consequences of his power and contemplates turning his back on Greyskull, Teela is ambushed by Skeletor's forces and is captured.
2) Origin of the Sorceress(Season 2)
When an evil force from times past arrives on Eternia, The Sorceress tells He-Man the story of how she relinquished her mortal life to become the mystic guardian of Castle Grayskull
3) Evilseed(Season 1)
Plants are starting to grow wild all over Eternia, causing trouble for both He-Man and Skeletor. The two enemies must team up to defeat Evilseed, a plant-like villain looking to take over Eternia for himself.
4) The Rainbow Warrior(Season 2)
Skeletor captures the Royal Family and holds them prisoner, and the one person who can save them is Queen Marlena- who resumes her old role of fighter pilot and proves she still has great pilot skills as she uses the Rainbow Explorer- the ship that brought her to Eternia- to lead a battalion of soldiers to the rescue
5) BattleCat(Season 2)
Man-At-Arms tells Orko the origin of Battle Cat, from the day when the young Prince Adam found the lost tiger cub Cringer in the woods, to the day when Cringer first became Battle Cat and helped He-Man save his friends from danger.
Worst Of He-Man, can't be bothered to do a top 5 but the episodes that centre around Orko and Dree Elle kinda suck lol
Transformers, Best Of Us and Jap G1
1) Starscream's Brigade(Season 2)
Starscream get's himself exiled from the Decepticons after taking things too far with Megatron(as per normal) so to exact his revenge, he steals the extracted "sparks" of Decepticon traitors and puts them into WW2 tanks etc to form the conbaticons
2) Combine Liokaiser(Transformers Victory)
Wilst The Autobots were still stuck on Planet Micro trying to repair the damage from the last battle with the Decepticons, the Breastforce were looking forward to welcomeing their old friend Deathcobra(whom they intend to replace the not so well liked member Hellbat) Hellbat, worried he'll loose his place in the decepticon forces tries in vain to make Deathcobra leave but ends killing Deathcobra and pins the blame on the Autobot micromaster Holi, following this Starsaber butts in and the Breastforce wanting revenge, have a nasty gift for the young and cocky Autobot leader
3) The Revenge Of Bruticus(Season 2)
following on from the events of Starscream's Brigade, we catch up with the combaticons and starscream on the astroroid Megatron banished them to "forever" Starscream tries to get back to Cybertron wilst the combaticons plot to take over cybertron and destroy the earth
4) Grimlock's New Brain(season 3)
A freak accident gives the normally dumb grimlock super intellience, and he uses this odd gift to build a new group of Autobots, The Technobots
5) can't think of a 5th at the mo
i'm only doing a top 3 worst here
Worst Of Transformers
1) B.O.T(Season 2)
Swindle looses vital parts needed by the other combaticons to form Bruticus so Megatron gives Swindle 24 hours to find the missing parts otherwise the bomb on the back of his head will go BOOM, but Brawl's personality circuit ended up going into the guts of a science project and chaos ensues......
2) Transformers: Zone(Japan only)
this was gonna be a 8 episode OVA series to form the final japanese G1 season, but due to rebirth like cuts only the one episode was made, to put if simply, 8 decepticon commanders were brought back to try and steal the energy source of the earth or rather the zodiac, a new Autobot called Dai Atlas saves the day and takes over leadership from Starsaber(the old japanese G1 Autobot leader, the jap order goes, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime, Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Fortress Maximus, Metalhawk, Ginrai, Starsaber, Dai Atlas) kick ass theme through lol
3) Scramble City(Japan only)
this covers the Building of both Metroplex and Trypticon and serves as a filler between the japanese versions of G1 season 2 and Season 3 since the japanese did not get the movie till bout 1989, to be honest it's even more of a toy ad than the entire series was.....
