The 1984 reboot of Godzilla (aka Godzilla 1985: The Legend Is Reborn) managed to rekindle some of the original magic of the Godzilla series, after the absolutly horrendous movies of the late 60s and the 70s (it´s no coincidence those ended up being made fun of in Mystery Science Theater 3000).

Godzilla 2000 on the other hand was a pretty lame reboot. Better effects, but everything else was really meh.

I´m not going to mention the U.S. version of Godzilla (darn it, I did it anyway), because I don´t count that as part of the series.
