Norton no longer Hulk!Joaquin Phoenix will replace him...?

Edward Norton who played Hulk in the 2007 film the Incredible Hulk will not be returning to play the character in the upcoming film The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon. Norton has said the following "I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and the Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond. It seems it won't work out for me to continue playing Bruce Banner for Marvel in "The Avengers." I will be thrilled to see him live on through other actors. Hulk is bigger than all of us, that's why we love him, right?"

Norton had previously expressed interest in how he was eager to reprise the role in the Avengers and when it was originally announced he was being replaced his agent said "We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige's mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans." Also Marvel has apparently given an offer to Joaquin Phoenix to take over the role (wtf... you gotta be kidding me)

And if he accepts he will join Robert Downey Junior, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlet Johansen, and Chris Hemsworth in The Avengers in 2012.

My opinion is this is completely ret*d! Norton was looking forward to the film as well as working with the other actors who he called his friends! Marvel is only doing this because they are cheap and don't want to pay for his (Nortons) work (who was amazing in TIH. And Joaquin Phoenix? ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME! THE GUY WHO STOPPED ACTING FOR A FAILED RAPPING CAREER! AND PLUS HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE BRUCE BANNER OR THE HULK!

There is also rumors that Mark Ruffalo may also become the new Bruce Banner

I personally would love Sam Rockwell to play Bruce Banner/Hulk as he would be perfect for the role as well as one of the best (if not the best) actors currently in Hollywood. But sadly this won't happen as he just played Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2 which is a Marvel Movie and he may reprise it for The Avengers which sucks .

But seriously anybody but Joaquin and I will be fine (as long as it isn't Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner or any of those horrible actors of the generation)

Oh wow. I didn't especially like the Hulk movie. But Ed Norton is one of my favorite all around actors and he played the part awesomely. I've been Sooo looking forward to him playing in the Avengers. Phoenix is a good looking guy, but doesn't look a thing like Banner. And I doubt his acting is anywhere near on par with the other actors they have lined up. Ruffalo looked "OK" for the part. Not nerdy enough in my mind, but he could be ok.

Jim Parsons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Parsons of The Big Bang Theory (Sheldon) would make a fun choice. I'm not sure if his acting is up to it or not, simply because I haven't seen him in anything else. But he's got the right look.

Wow, I just can't believe they got rid of Norton. One of the best actors of our generation.

Bruce Banner is supposed to be a wimpy-looking guy.

Mark Ruffalo will do fine as Banner/Hulk. Just give the guy a chance.

If he doesn't sign on, what Marvel could do is try and get Eric Bana,
from the first Hulk movie, to reprise for the Avengers movie.

In this case of Ed Norton vs. Marvel, it's just a case of he said-they said.
No one will know what made Marvel drop Ed Norton from the
Avengers movie cast list. Or what made Ed Norton walk away.

So there is another change in the actor of the Hulk, well to be fair the second was a restart, I wouldn't know who to choose, I would be more interested in the cg.

It's either Mark Ruffalo, Jim Parsons, or NO ONE!

Am liking the idea of Sheldon as Banner/Hulk.
