I have doubts about the legitimacy of this clip and even it's real it's apparently still only a pitch. It looks a lot like the Nolan reboots of Batman, much more "reality" based and, of course, a whole lot of grit.
The clip looks pretty good in my oppinion, but as always I refrain judgement until I've actually seen it. If it indeed gets made.

What are your thoughts on this?

It's definitely different to the old movies. Looks interesting though but obviously it might not even be made.

It's a pitch trailer, they're trying to sell the idea to movie companies who might be interested in picking it up.

If it doesn't gain support this trailer is all we'll ever see of this re-imagining.

I know, that's what I said in the OP. But what did you think about the pitch? Would you be interested in seeing this movie, if it gets made?

The original Mortal Combat movies were based on a series of video games. Even if they do a reboot, they can always try to stay true to the game.

I might want to see a MK remake (the first one was ok, the second one horrid), but I dont know how they'll go about it since the game was set in a techno-mystical universe (kinda like Shadowrun now that i think about it).

PS- Scorpion was always my favorite, so this would be interesting to me (to a degree).
