So I just started watching where the red fern grows 2. Where the red fern grow is a classic story about a boy and his 2 coon hounds. In where the red fern Grows the main character's name is Billy Colemen. The book starts off with Billy as an adult walking home from work when he happens upon a pack of dogs fighting and picking on an old hounds. Billy saves the old dog from the pack and help the old dog out by taking him home and cleaning up his wounds and feeding him. Then He lets the dog go on his way as he can see the dog is trying to get somewhere. this dog brings back precious memories of his two boy hood hunting dogs little Ann and old Dan. He tells the tail of his boyhood day and how he worked for 2 long years to earn up the money to get his dogs. through the story his boy's dogs become famous around the local area for being top of the line coon dogs. this is and excellent book and a highly suggested read. I will not tell you how it ends encase you read it but it is a truly wonderful story.

this classic book was made into a move that was equally well done. As far as books turned into movies go they did a very good job and stayed very close to the origonal plot of the book.

Now they have mad a another movie called where the red fern grow 2 and this is where I am having a probleam I am sitting here watching this movie with my mother and I am only in the first half but so far i have a few issues with this movie.

so far in the movie Billy (the main character from the original story come back for WWII as a man about 30 years old manand he has a peg leg. here is one of my main issues in the origonal BOOK and the first movie as an older adult man in the start bill did not have a peg leg.. Also as this was only a movie form and no actual book that I know of I expected it to fallow the first movie a bit. However they failed to even do that1 In the first movie Billy has dark drown blackish hair. how ever in the sequel movie he has blond hair. He come home fro the war t find that his grandpa got him 2 coon hound pups and expects him to hunt with them. ON A atrificail LEG! Again plot flaw Billy so far has joined up with the neighbors kid and they go out coon hunting for the first time. before going out Billy promised to bring his grandpa to church so when they go hunting the dogs tree a coon and Billy has to head back and leaves the 11 year old boy with his 2 dogs oh and a riffle! Now dogs chased the coon into the church service! OH and the worst thing is he named these dogs after his old dog little ann and old dan! Exact same name!

so far this s a horrible sequal and movie! Has anyone else seen it what do you think

I have not heard of the movie sequel, but by your recommendation, I will avoid it like the plague. I still have vivid memories from the second grade, when our teacher read us the book. Especially of when the evil kid falls on his ax!

I had to read it for school but it I refused after I read about how violently the racoons were killed and how they treated them like objects but were a Bible belt family. I felt like I was reading the memoir of a phycopath. I'm surprised they didn't take out their frustrations on the dogs.

I had to read the first book for school and I really liked it. I've been meaning to read the second one since I heard of it a few weeks ago. Didn't know there were movies though, I'll have to check them out.
