just learned that a movie set to be released in 2013 will be based on the first two books in the hyperion series. dan simmons has given his approval. the director will be the same guy who directed remake of 'day the earth stood still'. if he massacres simmon's magnificent books like he did 'farewell to the master', he deserves to be stoned to death. won't the catholic church be happy with this news! i would bet that the screenplay will have a fictitious religion in play because of catholic pressure. hope i survive long enough to see film. other great works that are begging to be turned into films are 'foundation and earth' and 3rd and 4th' rama' books. yes, the shrike is real.

why no remake of 'forbidden planet'? tis a shame.

I loved Hyperion. Would be interested in a movie, hope it don't suck.
