anyone else hate Heavy Metal (movie)?

I watched it in its entirety for the first time about a year ago and I was just utterly disgusted.

It's like the doodlings some 17 year old repeating the 9th grade would have made in study hall and they were turned into a movie.

I actually saw in the theatre when it was released in 1981. Was a metalhead even back then, saw it in a theatre in Absecon, NJ. At the time I sort of liked it. then again I was young and quite stoned. Loved the soundtrack. The Don Fagan was great while wasted. The Black Sabbath with Dio was the best.
I was given a tape of that movie in 1997 and watched it. Still liked the music, but I have to admit. I was no longer impressed by the animation. Oh, yeah. I quit pot in 1991.
