Hi,

do you like sitcoms? Which ones? I love sitcoms, especially "britcoms", e. g. Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Yes Minister! and such. I also like Friends and used to like TBBT, but those stupid dialogs about sex just made me angry.

I was wondering - aspergers tend to not understand to sarcasms. How is possible that so many aspergers like watching sitcoms?

I like Friends(!) and Cold Feet, also Keeping Up Appearances, but I haven't seen much of it.

I think it's possibly easier to understand sarcasm on sitcoms as the acting is different to real life, there is sometimes a laugh-track indicating when someone's being sarcastic, and, if all else fails, you can watch the episode over again until you understand. Might be wrong though.

I'm completely uninterested in most tv shows. There have been some memorable ones over the years: Green Acres, Beverley Hillbillies, WKRP in Cincinnati, and Taxi come to mind.

One British sit-com that I particularly enjoyed was Last of the Summer Wine.

I feel that Black Books should be mentioned here.

I used to watch sitcoms, but these days I really don't watch them a lot. I usually don't understand the humor in it. I do like British television a lot, though. Most of Monty Python is great, especially the movies.

Seconding Black Books. All of Graham Linehan's sitcoms are great. They are very traditional British sitcoms (in a good way). The IT Crowd has a lot of nerd humour but it's not as in-your-face as The Big Bang Theory.

If you want something a little different, try Peep Show. I have a feeling I'm not the only person here who occasionally gets compared to Mark Corrigan.

As a kid and over the years, I used to watch sitcoms like Happy Days, All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Three's Company, Laverne and Shirley, Married With Children, and others, just to name a few. Later, I watched Black Adder and The Red Dwarf on PBS. Today, I can barely stand sitcoms, with the exception of The Big Bang Theory.

I find it peculiar (but in a good way) that Red Dwarf and Blackadder are mentioned so often. They've always been my 2 favourites, especially Red Dwarf, but I always viewed them as 'unusual sitcoms' in the sense that one is a sci-fi parody while the other is historical satire. When I hear 'sitcom', I tend to think of comedy shows with a more 'every-day', contemporary setting, like Men Behaving Badly and 2.4 Children.

I don't differentiate between UK/US or any other country, some sitcoms I've enjoyed include Full House, Fresh Prince, Spin City, Will & Grace, Thin Blue Line, 3rd Rock From The Sun.

I used to really like the 'family' format that was popular in the 80s and early-to-mid 90s, and preferred it to the 'young adults living together in an apartment' that took over following the smash hit Friends... But I warmed up to a couple of those shows, and generally think that they're funnier than the staple show of that subgenre, Friends.

On the other hand, I also find that more recent sitcoms with a family setting, like Everybody Loves Raymond and that show with Belushi and Allison-from-Melrose-Place just don't do it for me.
I'm not that into either of Chuck Lorre's hit shows 2-1/2 Men or BBT, and I never really understood the appeal of How I Met Your Mom.

Actually, I should make honorable mention of Seinfeld. That show still makes me laugh.

Comedy shows is one of my interests, although I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of them.

My favorite sitcom is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Then it's Seinfeld. Then it's The Office (UK version, of course). I also like Green Wing, That 70s Show, My Family (in the begining), TBBT, HIMYM, Black Adder, Louie.

I find Friends to be horrible. And, although I'm still exploring, I find Modern Family average but very pretentious.

I mostly like animated ones like the Simpsons and Family Guy, but I also like Two and a Half Men (the Charlie Sheen era only), How I Met Your Mother, and the Big Bang Theory.

Hell, if we can include animated shows, I'll include The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, The Cleavland Show,, and Archer, etc., as stuff I watch.
