I watched the film, Ps I love You, the other day. I somehow managed to get through the whole way. I'm not sure if the film was good or not, but there's no way it can be taken seriously when Gerald Butler couldn't do an Irish accent in a million years. How could the people casting not think its pretty important?

The book was acceptable but the movie was one of the worse adaptations Ive ever seen(at the bottom with new moon).

The only reason I didnt stop watching the film was because I really enjoyed watching lisa kudrow(she kept reminding me of phoebe so I couldnt stop laughing most of the time).

They changed most of the book settings so I figure they thought that screwing up the book setting wasnt enough.

ps:I believe that they casted gerard butler because he was one of "the biggest stars" at the time and when they saw that there wasnt an appropiate character they made him play one of the characters and pretend he had a similar background(something similar happened with megan fox´s character on jennifers body she was 23 and it was clear she wasnt at school age yet they made her play a character that wasnt even at his last school year)

Yeah I noticed that. They must have told her to, I mean, can she actually play any other kind of character?

Its pretty stupid, I found out he's Scottish, so no wonder he can't do the accent. That sounds just as bad then. They'd be better off playing an unknown actor who can actually play the part.

Man, I saw the previews and was disgusted. Ugh. The book was a work of art, imo. I'm not much for the genre at all, but this was an exception. I thought it would be relatively easy to adapt. How did they screw it up to nearly every detail? (So far as I could see from the previews.)
I mean, books with harder plots have been adapted with success, ie, LOTR and Dragon Tattoo series. So....what were they thinking?
Done ranting.

I could've written this review

David Wiegand of the San Francisco Chronicle said, "This is a movie that will leave you stunned and stupefied from beginning to end, if you don't head for the exits first. The only good things in it are Lisa Kudrow and Swank's wardrobe. The plot is unbelievable, although a competent script could have fixed that. The direction is flabby and uninspired, the casting is wrongheaded, and the performances run the gamut from uninteresting to insufferable ... the film wants terribly to be Ghost without a potter's wheel, but it just succeeds at being terrible."[
