This movie has become my new obsession lately and it was hard to me to play favorites on this one. I pretty much love all the jokes, characters, and action scenes! :D

I'm sure my manliness is at stake here, but I'm going to say it anyway. The Princess Bride is simply the best movie, ever.

Hand over your man card. Wait, why would anyone question your manhood over liking a great movie?

I like this movie alot as well, it is a good childhood memory for me, though I admit I probably stare a bit more at Robin Wright now when I watch it then I did as a kid

I loved that movie as a kid. I haven't watched it in years, although I still have the VHS. I'll have to sit down and watch it again one of these days.

I love this film too. It is magic. One of my favourite moments, ( though as roygerdodger says it is full from beginning to end with wonderful moments ), which has on a couple of occasions made me cry, I find it so moving, is the final fight between Inigo Mantoya and the "six-fingered man"!

This is a rather good short "making of"/retrospective clip about it, featuring Mandy Patinkin, Cary Elwes, Christopher Guest, and stunt choreographers, plus bits of some of the best sword-fighting scenes:

And I used a phrase from the film as my signature on here for absolutely ages, it makes so much sense, has kept me grounded/sane many times: "Life is pain. Anyone that says differently is selling something". :D

One of my favorite films. I don't want to analyze it. I might kill the magic. I have seen other films that tried to copy it, but they were never as successful. I guess I liked the humor best. If anyone fails to appreciate it, remind them that it is a story being told by the character played by Peter Falk. If you keep this in mind, everything works. Also, the casting was inspired

I'll be perfectly honest here. I much prefer the book. Not that The Princess Bride is a bad adaptation, though that's probably due to the fact that William Goldman both wrote the book and did the adaptation (even though in the book, he spins some admittedly convincing BS that The Princess Bride was originally a satire that his grandfather abridged into a romantic fairytale). I just prefer the book as it is.

Still, you cannot deny that Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die has remained one of the best movie lines of all time, thanks to Mandy Patinkin (who, up to now, I thought of as Jason Gideon from Criminal Minds).

I feel a bit silly for saying this, but I had no idea it was a book first. I may just have to read it. Same title, I assume?

Yep. The Princess Bride by William Goldman.

Excellent movie. I've seen it a few times and I've never gotten bored with it. I really need to get it on DVD.
