Personally, I don't care who stars in, writes, produces, and directs any "Batman" movie, TV show, comic, or any other form it takes. I just want to sit down and enjoy it.

Well... personally whenever I find out that something is going to have a director, writer, actor, etc. that I don't like or I don't think is fit for it, I know there's a good chance that I won't enjoy it. And if people I do like are involved, there's a better chance that I will enjoy it. I mean... if a Spider-man movie was directed by Mel Gibson and narrated by Ben Stein, with Will Ferrell as Spider-man, Kathy Griffin as Mary Jane, and Dane Cook as Hobgoblin, I think I'd skip it, ya know?

Its a conspiracy. Or, someone really likes Batman and wants to converse.

Normally I'd charge for advice as good as this, but I'll give you your first free: don't read the threads if you don't care for them! No one's forcing you to! If people want to discuss it they can.

Personally, I wouldn't like it as much if the main characters were played by different actors, it kills the immersion for me.

I'm sure imbatshitcrazy (who is making the Batman threads) has a very keen interest in Batman, just like all of us have one in something or other. :)

That's wise, but...
Imagine. Someone finds a forum or a section with a lot of threads about something specific (a fictional universe, a scientific thematic, etc) that he isn't interested in at all. I understand if he finds this a bit annoying.

I don't understand what the attractions is with Batman in the first place. He is just a violent man dressed as a bat for no apparent reason.

If Will Ferrell played 'Spiderman' that would be a massive improvement and I'd be straight there!

The member who starts them is just being himself and expressing himself. He won't be too happy when he sees this thread.

What's with all the "Batman" threads on here?

I say what's with the lack of Batman threads? There totally could be more. No one's even brought up Batman Inc yet!

Also: I'd pay to see Christian Bale actually recite all the above.

OK, fine. I'm sorry I asked.

And just so you know, I wasn't trying to call out anybody on this thread.

(I'm still laughing at the video skafather posted.)

The attraction of Batman runs psychologically deep. Superman was always sunshine and happy endings, just watch the TV show from the fifties. But Batman wasn't endowed with super powers, just a guy who used custom weaponry to his advantage. It's dark, and stormy, and his adventures take place at midnight. They had a spotlight to shine in the sky when they needed him ! His villains are a twisted bunch of psychopaths, not visitors from other dimensions like Superman's. The Joker for instance is a classic example. He's taken the image, the face of the clown, and pasted it on top of a soul filled with pure evil. Frightening. Batman is a kaleidoscope, you look at him and see one one thing, someone else looks and see something completely different. No other comic book character has gone through more variations of interpretation. Look at the various media incarnations, a film cliffhanger series from the 40's with the emphasis on the detective angle, the campy over-the-top 60's TV show that emphasized the comical aspect of characters dressing up in costumes, the Tim Burton films that emphasized the bizarre characters and behaviors, then the new films which present a in-your-face blacker than pitch look at what would happen if these characters were real and running around loose in our world.
