Still Game (2002): The sixth and final episode on my DVD. Quite a few good laughs here. I might look up some more of this on YouTube, which has a lot of episodes.

Tales of the Unexpected, 'Lamb to the Slaughter' (1979): Susan George kills her adulterous policeman husband with a frozen piece of meat from the freezer. His fellow officers, investigating the crime at her house, unwittingly eat the murder weapon, lol.

The Power Game (1966)

The final episode from the first series. Various industrialists, civil servants and politicians conspire to remove Sir John Wilder from the National Export Board, but he runs rings round the lot of them and manages to get himself appointed as the government's envoy to the EEC in Brussels, while retaining his seat on the board.

This Export Board stuff seems a million miles removed from today's UK, where there is no such body. Probably because we hardly have any exports these days, lol.

Tales of the Unexpected (1979)

An episode called 'The Landlady', with an Irish actress called Siobhan McKenna in the title role. Pretty tame stuff by today's standards, though Roald Dahl in his introduction warns us that some viewers might be terrified by the content. Not sure that many would have been even in 1979.

Please Sir!

Two 1969 episodes of this ITV sitcom, which ran from 1968-72 (roughly the same era as 'On The Buses'). It's based around a 5th form class in a London comprehensive school, and their teacher Mr Hedges (John Alderton). The pupils are supposed to be 15-16 years old, but the actors who play them are in their early to mid 20s, lol. This only adds to be comedy, which is of an average to good standard.

Apparently the first two series were the best, the later ones pretty poor.

I don't fully understand this - Roald Dahl's 'Tales of the Unexpected' was produced by Anglia Television, part of the UK's Independent Television network (ITV), not the state-owned BBC. My boxset, containing all 112 episodes, is released by 'Network', which specializes in ITV shows.

It's possible that the BBC may have acquired the rights to this series since then, but I can't find any evidence of that.

Tales of the Unexpected (1979)

A very strange episode entitled 'Neck', starring Joan Collins and Sir John Gielgud. Joan and her husband host a weekend of entertainment for their guests at their stately home, and Joan gets her head stuck in one of her husband's modern art sculptures. The ending is ambiguous. A bit silly really, and I can recall Joan being involved in an even sillier episode of this series later on.

Quantum Leap (2023) on Peacock

Episodes 9 (Fellow Travelers) and 10 (Paging Dr. Song)

a bit later

Just finished episode 11 (Leap, Die, Repeat)

I've enjoyed all three episodes, and the ones I did not document in these pages.

If you have not seen the show, but saw the original, I'm not spoiling anything important by saying when Dr. Ben Song leaps, he does not say "Oh boy." like Dr. Samuel Beckett did.

Just started episode 12 (Let Them Play)
Ben finds himself in the body of a high school basketball coach, whose daughter is trans, on his team, and faces prejudice from the community.

All caught up. No offense, but fictional sports parents are the WORST, sometimes.

Last night we finished the first two seasons of:

The Orville [2017–?]

It resembles the Star Trek universe a lot (though the final episode of Season 2 also reminded me a bit of the Star Wars universe). But:
<=>- TV-14, not TV-PG
<=>- The Orville is not a top-of-the-line ship
<=>- People are not so perfect, not even the star characters
<=>- It is COMEDY!
