Would Lex Luthor be a decent Batman villain?

I think so. As Bruce Wayne, he would have to deal with Luthor as a business rival and uncover many crimes within. as Batman, Luthor would be one of Gotham's "most untouchable crime lords", and Luthor is just as smart as, if not more than, batman. What do you guys think?

I agree that luthor is a great villain for Bruce Wayne. I am not sure about Luthor as a villain for Batman specifically.

Agreed. The reason behind Lex Luthor being a rival to Superman is because he hates Superman for taking the limelight away from him when he feels that he should be the one the world looks up to for his great intelligence. He generally wants to help people, but he wants to be the one that does it alone so he gets all of the attention (and the power the positive attention brings him). Notice that in pretty much all other universes where Superman isn't present (or is evil), Luthor's a good guy.

I doubt he'd be an enemy to Batman, because Batman isn't a rival. He could be an enemy to Wayne because Wayne could surpass him in being a world-aiding philanthropist.

Actually, Batman has faced Lex using his Bruce Wayne persona. It was done in the JLA storyline "Rock of Ages", back when Grant Morrison was at the helm.

I remember the Grant Morrison story but I dont think you could ever have luthor as one if Batmans villains. I just dont see Luthor as one of Batmans main villains.
