I know this movie isn't out yet, but it ought to be at least somewhat interesting. From what I can tell from IMDB it was based on a comic book that was literally about how cowboys would reacted to the types of aliens invented by "abductee" attention seekers which are purported to abduct people, namely the reaction of cowboys being "What the heck? Let's kill 'em dead!" Add on top of that a main story which in the trailer appears to be that one character is an abductee who has been provided a weapon able to take down the spacecraft. It would otherwise probably sound like a rather contrived story to me, but I have a fixation on the old west right now and this is cool to me for that reason - and hopefully it is done well also. Even if it isn't so great maybe the comic book might be though.

The premise + Jon Favreau + Daniel Craig + Harrison Ford =

Hmm. These forums seem to be missing an emoticon that's having an orgasm.

Close enough, I guess.

i read the comic and the story is brilliantly executed,
in the comic you would have to translate the alien speech yourself for the first long part before they dropped the habbit, it had lots of small charm points that add up to a fantastic comic, i am a bit worried about a movie adabtation to be honest.

I haven't read the comic yet but it sounds cool. That said though, I am uncertain how an adaptation from comic book to movie would turn out, although as a generality I would assume it would probably be better than the usual book to movie adaptations for the simple reason that there is less to cut out (most likely, unless the comic book/series had a lot of content).

I was out in Abiquiu NM, or Ghost Ranch where Cowboys and Aliens was filmed for a geology field camp project.. we walked right where most of the scenes were in the trailer. I actually got lost while mapping in the field where the scene of alien space ships attacking the horseback riders... The area is also famous for being the favorite painting spot of Georgia o'keeffe and the set of various other movies including Indiana Jones 4. The terrain was rough yet one of the most beautiful and memorable places I've been. Obviously I'm excited to see this movie, even if its terrible... just so that I can see Ghost Ranch again

Cool, would you let us know what you thought of it? Was it good or was it just another 21st century film?

That sounds awesome. Kinda makes me wish I lived about a thousand miles closer so it would be possible to see the country out there.

Does the movie have a Gatling gun on it? The web based game for it says that Col. Dolaryhyde has one, but is it in the movie also?

Has anyone seen it yet today? If so, is it worth going to see?

I thought it was good, although I had a bit of trouble understanding the storyline. I had quite a few WTF moments, although that could just be me and my poor listening skills.

Cool. Hopefully the storyline isn't too contrived, but it's neat that your impression was that it was good. A movie like this is probably bound to have a few "WTF-type moments". I wish I had gotten to see it last night, you know another sci-fi/western hopefully somewhat cool like Serenity, but instead found out that my wife's car (our only independent transportation aside from our feet and a couple broken bicycles) was broken into, ignition system destroyed by an idiot or idiots who tried to hotwire the car and failed, and they had left the doors open and drained the battery.... kinda goes from being a date night with my wife to wanting to destroy the universe.... but aside from that, IDK.
